    Another case where "improved for the modern man" really means "using cheaper ingredients to cut manufacturing costs"??

    Early morning shave,

    A wonderful performance from the Semogue 1305 boar brush...My new found fondness for my humble boar brushes grows with each outing. The Semogue 1305 is a great brush.

    Finishing the shave off with a few small dollops of Boots Freshwood ASB.

    Fine shave this morning. I can't use my "Just Like Yesterday" rubber stamp, as the products were different yesterday than today. Same result, though. Clean and clear in all areas but for Cactus, where I skipped over the Central part(or it seemed I did anyway). I think I know what I need to do to fix this, but I need to be careful I don't develop any redness in the prOHcess. I'm still trying to get over the fact that the A.S. and shave soap of Pages do not have the same scent. Close, I guess, but still not the same. Both are great for "skin-food" though....can't deny that.The Plissoft 400(Razorock)brush helped get me a lot of soap on my face and neck to prepare me for the shave. 2 passes. Super Duper Outstanding.

    Thanks Joe, it hasn't dug me that much yet, that's why I am digging it even more. Giving the Kai a rest for a while though

    Thanks Paul, not for daily use though, it's a bit on the sweet side for that

    thanks Joe

    thanks Joe

    Days growth = 1

    12 Mar 2024.jpg

    Prep = 3 x cold water soak
    Preshave = TOBS Jermyn street
    Cream = TOBS Oud
    Brush = Simpson Chubby 2
    Bowl = Timeless
    Razor = Tuckaway
    Blade = Bolzano
    Passes = 3
    Post = Usual CWR, Alum, CWR, Thayers
    ASL = Proraso Barbe Dure
    Scent = Bulgari Wood Essence
    Damage = none

    Impressed by this little razor, short handle needs a slightly different way of dealing with things
    Surprised by how smooth and safe the shave was despite being an OC
    Fun new toy

    The TOBS needs quite a lot of water. I used a full scoop because the brush is much denser than my others, and I knew it needed more lather. It did produce a fine lather, but so far I haven’t managed to get the TOBS to the level of let’s say Stirling. Somewhat drying effect on the face but overall DFS

    Have a great Tuesday everyone

    Right, I don't use mine "daily", just for when I'm in the mood for it.

    Great shave Scott. I find that Badger brushes are best used for face lathering creams and soaps.

    How do you like the scent on the TOBS Oud? That's one of their more recent offerings.

    Brush: Dogwood Handcrafts 26 mm Tuxedo
    Pre-Shave: Pears Transparent Soap
    Lather: WTF Vintage Barbershop
    Aftershave: Black Ship Grooming Co. La Concorde
    Additional Care:
    Omega Alum

    Outstanding barbershop shave this morning. Gorgeous day here on LI. I took advantage to do some outside chores and enjoy the weather.

    Superb three pass shave with the Thistle straight. Super smooth throughout the shave. Approximately 10 hours post shave there is still a lot of smoothness.

    Hope you all had a great day gentlemen.

    Good evening.

    Personna Hairshaper Blade (16)
    Hembree Delrin/Maggard Timberwolf Brush
    PAA King R. Emporium SS

    I am late with my shave, but better late than never. I went with my Dovo for tonight's shave. I went full barbershop with this setup. This soap doesn't need much to make a rich, creamy and abundant lather. Here is my lather:

    20240312_211644.jpg

    Did 3 passes for a smooth and comfortable shave. Usually, I get 19 to 20 shaves with this blade, but I decided to bin it after this session. The alum was silent. Finished using up the witch hazel and will have to replace it the next time I am in the store. Ended this session with splashing the Pinaud-Clubman Classic aftershave. Take care.

    Awesome setup and shave Barry. Boar brushes that are broken in are soft and make nice lathers.
