    Greetings,

    (Face & Head Shave)

    A new shave set up to start the weekend...

    It's been while since I use my Parker Variant and forgot how much of a efficiently smooth it is which paired together with the Treet Platinum wonderfully mowing through my stubble with effortless ease. Out of the three adjustable DE razors that I have in my collection the Parker Variant is my favourite, as I find the weight & build superb.

    A wonderful performance from the Parker Variant/Treet classic duo to start the weekend off on a high note.

    The Indian made Gillette guard continues to impress mowing through my head/dome stubble with effortless ease.

    A close comfortable face and head shave with no errors to report.

    Finishing the shave off with a few small dollops of Cien Men Sensitive ASB.

    My face & precious swede are both feeling smooth and smelling divine.;)

    Stay safe, and enjoy the start of the weekend ladies & gentlemen.:cool:

    thx Gary

    fantastic shave pic and setup!

    thanks Joe

    Just another whoops. Question: do get more of those with the Straight razors than your DE razors Joe?
    Anyone using blood thinners and straights?
    ( A friend had a tooth pulled this week and even tho' the blood thinners were stopped, still bled quite a bit until late in the evening)

    Great setup Barry. Is that an older PR green tub? looks different to mine somehow.

    16 MAR 2024 changing things up a little
    Days growth = 1

    16 Mar 2024.jpg

    Prep = 3 x cold water soak
    Preshave = TOBS Jermyn street massage
    Soap = Sterling Agar sample
    Brush = Omega Pura Setola
    Bowl = Timeless
    Razor = Schick SE. Canadian E type? 1930s or so
    Blade = Schick, fresh blade, bit fiddly to line up and engage the tabs properly. Need to pay attention to this alignment
    Passes = 3+
    Post = Usual CWR, Alum, CWR, Thayers . Alum came alive today
    ASL = Proraso Barbe Dure
    Scent = PR Cypress and Vetyver to the rescue, lasts most of the day
    Damage = none, but once again feeling properly exfoliated

    DFS all over

    The Sterling sample Agar had, to my nose, very little scent at all. Good lather. I find with these Sterling samples they do better after their first use

    Tentative reintroduction to the world of SE shaving
    Went really light, hence the need for 3 passes
    Didn’t push the boundaries, left a bit here and there, that would normally need ATG, but not today with a fresh SE blade thank you. Less pressure than with my DEs. Careful attention to the cap and where the blade is. No ATG today
    Nice shape to the Schick handle, the lower angled end of the handle seems perfectly designed to rest on a finger for extra support. Very light razor

    Hope your Saturday days and shaves turn out as well or better

    Thank you Chris. The short answer to your PR green tub query is yes, it's old stock. A while back I was gifted three tubs from a visiting Italian client steel inspector I told him that I was a wet shaver and that I like Proraso shaving soap he was impressed that I knew about it, and on his second contract he brought me the three tubs. It's scent & performance is still excellent. The PR green & Red Soaps & ASL's are a great favourite of mine.

    Thanks Barry. I guess the trick is to let more people know about our hobby! So far none of my PR products have disappointed, nor any of the Italian ones.

    Thanks Barry. Thankfully, it is not an everyday occurrence. This razor needs to be honed.

    Using a straight or a whavette will increase the probability of getting a nick, cut or a weep compared with a DE or SE razor. It's due to to the fact that the shaver controls the angle of the edge and that there isn't a guard/bar. Shaving with a straight/shavette requires focus, steady hands with a soft touch, muscle memory and of course, a sharp edge to get a great shave.

    Any time that I spill blood is because I was on autopilot while shaving or the edge was not as sharp as it should be. Also in the past, I have incorrectly landed the edge on my skin to cause red liquid erupting from the surface. Being a straight razor shaver for over 5.5 years, I would expect to cut myself every once in a blue moon. It's the nature of the beast. However, one's technique should be that it minimizes the severity and frequency of spilling blood.
    Btw, I am not on blood thinners and if I was, then I wouldn't use an open blade razor.

    Super Saturday SE Shave Chris. Using an SE razor is not that much different than shaving with a DE razor. The angle is more shallow, bit it is basically the same.

    Superb Shave set up & photo Chris. The (11137) Omega Pura Setola is breaking in wonderfully. How many outings have you gave it.? Mine is just starting to break in nice, a few more outing and It'll be how I like it. I like the Ash handle. I find Omega boars break in quite fast with regular use and don't have that "Piggy Fragrance" for long. A few hand lathers with Dettol anti-bacterial hand soap gets rid of any nasties, loose hairs and that faint "Piggy Fragrance".

    A very nice shave this morning, in contrast to that of 24 hours earlier. I gave the Proraso can 2 good shakes before applying. First half came out squiggly, then it settled into a more "cloud-like" appearance. As I've been saying, I do prefer the latter. I did a good mix of WTG and A(gainst)TG with the razor. Very soft and slow across the sections of South Porcupine that received the most damage yesterday-no further damage....GOOD. The "Coarse Beard" can produces a nice sandalwood scent.(Note-That was a mistake in purchase, as I don't have a coarse beard). Zero across the board on cuts, Knicks, Polka-dots. The matching aftershave is so nice. As Outstanding As It Gets.
