    Shaving Recipe for today.

    Cold wet flannel to my face.
    Cien PURE Fragrance Free Sensitive Bar Soap.
    Brush: Omega S10018.
    Bowl Lather.
    Bowl: Tesco's Ceramic 'Cosmo' Side Bowl.
    Lather: Gillette Sensitive Original Scent Shave Foam.
    Blade: Treet Classic. (D2)
    Razor: Parker 24C.

    Post:
    Cold water face wash with brush squeezing's, Cold Water Face Rinse. /Homemade (~Autumn/Winter mix~) peppermint lavender, eucalyptus, + Tea Tree essential Oils Mixed Together With Care+Witch Hazel./P&G Old Spice Bearglove ASL Spray. /Cien Men Sensitive ASB.

    Greetings,

    It's been some time since I last used the Parker 24C. Out of all my parker DE razors the 24C took more than a fair few shaves for me to bond with it. However, once I adjusted to using a steeper angle, which parker razors require IMHO, it rewarded me with close efficient shaves...Some razors take a while before you bond with them, the 24C was the one for me.

    A close comfortable 2 pass + pick ups shave with no errors to report. Finishing the shave off with a few small dollops of Cien Men Sensitive ASB.

    My face is feeling super smooth & smelling divine.;)

    Keep safe and enjoy your Sunday ladies & gentlemen.:cool:

    Interesting shave Barry. I have used some Treets and found them quite good
    @Paul Turner will like your use of the goo!

    Great picture Joe.
    Wouldn't have thought the name Stallion would be reminiscent of Oud, so thanks for the suggestion
    Must be good it this is your 2nd tub!
    I see they also do a Tuscan Oud, and don't see those mentioned here

    Thanks Joe, now used the Agar twice, very light scent to my (very insensitive) nose, almost none at all, but good Stirling lather nevertheless. I will certainly finish the sample but wouldn't buy a full tub for the scent

    Cool idea Joe
    Great shave, but that must be straight technique carrying over to your SE style Lol!
    Something to add to my To-Do-Someday list!

    Treets are a good 1-2 shave blade. The goo works well using a brush & the additional extra water. If Paul was to try using an DE razor, brush & practice his technique & gain some shaving confidence this would improve his shaving results wonderfully. However, I'm going over old ground,as other members have suggested this to him in many postings.

    Thanks Joe, that counts me out then, minor tremor here and there, and anyway wouldn't know/want to get to know the whole honing and stropping thing
    Nice to see the straight shave setups though

    Thanks Joe

    Thanks Barry. Yes with my harder soaps I generally reach for my 11137 or 10049 most of the time.
    Haven't counted exactly but would say somewhere between 20 and 30 times
    Don't remember any "fragrance" from this though
    I do remember breaking one of my bristle / boar brush in cold water in the fridge for 3 days but really can't remember which, and from memory, didn't think it made any difference either way

    Thanks Gary, I will come back to my SE on weekends on non work days and see if I can up my game with these
    I think my hydromagic performed better than this Schick, from memory only, not back to back testing

    Thanks Gary

    The newer boar knots are now treated and cleaned better and most don't have the piggy fragrance. The boar brush in cold water in the fridge for 3 days is pointless IMO, especially if the handle of the brush is wooden. Sitting in the fridge in water for 3 days will have a detrimental effect on the handle, again, some people say it works. I do hand lathers with Bar soap in-between each shave then I give the the tips a brisk rub to start the splitting process then let the brush completely dry before repeating the process.

    very nice tip Barry, will keep that in mind for my next bristle brush/boar brushes

    Will horse hair brushes benefit from this as well?

    I Have two horse hair brushes and find Horse hair is more fragile than boar . The brushes do absorb a lot of water if I soaked for a couple of minutes and the hair will become a lot more flexible. One thing I've noticed with horse hair brushes is if you use low pressure and a mixture of circular and painter strokes they will build a good lather. My only gripe with them is they can get snags in them .Using them like you use a Boar brush like "scrubbing" it in circles can damage the hairs and create snags this I had to adapt to which took me a while. Every so often I give all my natural hairs brushes a wash with baby shampoo to keep them soft, then give run a comb/brush to get rid of any snags.

    Days growth = 1 and a bit

    17 Mar 2024.jpg

    Prep = 3 x cold water soak
    Preshave = TOBS Jermyn street
    Cream/Soap = Sterling Agar (day 2)
    Brush = Pura Setola
    Bowl = Timeless
    Razor = Schick E3 SE
    Blade = Schick (2)
    Passes = 2 +
    Post = Usual CWR, Alum, CWR, Thayers
    ASL = Pinaud Virgin Island Bay Rum
    Scent = ASL !
    Damage = none

    Properly smooth on the flats I guess because it’s easier to use there because of the flat shape of the SE
    Not quite so smooth around the curves and hollows: my guess is this is why the Curved Caps do better there for most folk

    40th year Wedding Anniversary today

    Lazy start to our Sunday with breakfast at King’s Park and Botanic garden overlooking Perth

    Super Sunday Shave Barry. I had the same situation when I first shaved with my Schick E-3. It wasn't until I changed the angle that I grew to like it. Enjoy your Sunday afternoon.

    Thanks Chris. The GEM MMOC is a nice razor and shaves very close. Using an Injector blade in that razor was a gamechanger for me.

    Thank you Joe. Your right about finding the angle, all of my other DE parkers I got the steeper angle pretty much after a few shaves, the 24c angle is more steeper. I'm now more comfortable with using the 24c. Have a great start to the day.

    I do like it indeed, although I see that Gillette has joined many in changing the style of theirs Are there any more vintage red one?

    I have the red "Original scent" one too which will be making an appearance in my future shaves. Mixing it up with a brush in a bowl & addition of extra water makes a very acceptable lather.

    I went back to the Proraso this morning. Fine shave. One pass. Zero cuts, Knicks, Polka-dots. Thus, my cut from Friday has more time to heal, as I return to shave soaps tomorrow. Still, I need to be real careful around there. The Proraso site has been excellent in sending out tips, info. Super Duper Outstanding for today's effort.
