Thanks Barry. Believe it or not, there was hardly any blade feel while shaving with that combo. I believe you will find that it will give you a nice face shave as well.

I needed a shave because I'm meeting a student for a tutoring session. One must look professional. I picked out my Wosty near wedge because it is very efficient and the weight of the razor helps with the shave. I picked Seaforth Sea Spice Lime soap because it's not overpowering, but still makes a great lather. I don't want a scent that will cause a problem for my student. Here's my lather:

Three error-free passes gave me a super smooth and comfortable shave. The alum feedback was nil. Splashed on the aftershave and I am good to go. Take care.

SE Shave # 374 - DECLARATION GROOMING MICROMATIC MONDAY - Trismegistus

    Rating: 5 / 5

    Razor: GEM Micromatic Open Comb
    Blade: Schick Pro-line B-20
    Brush: Epsilon Horse Hair
    Pre-Shave: Pears Transparent Soap
    Lather: Declaration Grooming Trismegistus
    Aftershave: Stirling Arkadia
    Additional Care:
    Omega Alum
    Dickenson’s Original Witch Hazel
    Stirling Unscented Glacial Balm

Interesting shave this morning. I decided to give an injector blade a go with the MMOC as per Joe’s suggestion, @Trigger. The resulting shave was just as close with this blade as with the GEM stainless. That being said, will I opt to using this set up in the future? No. I have 3 more tucks of 10 GEM blades in the Northern den. Given that I use the GEMs for a minimum of 10 shaves that would represent at least 300 more shaves before I run out. My records show that over the past two years I have shaved with the GEM blades 56 & 52 times respectively. Therefore, at this current rate, I have about six years before I finish up these blades.

I did my usual three passes. I always enjoy using the Trismegistus as it is one of my favorites.
I hope you all had a great day.

Great shave Joe. I never tried tried the Schick Pro Line B-20 blades. I have the regular Schick blades. I don't know if they are the same blades. In any event, it may be that my skin and beard type makes that blade feel smoother than the GEM and Daylogic blades. Thanks for giving it a try.

You really pull out some lovely vintage Gillettes to use, Gary! That set looks like it could have been made yesterday - except Gillette doesn't make razors like that anymore...

thank you John.this set is in remarkable condition,i would say barely used, more importantly it's rare because it's a british made version.even more importantly is how well it was cared for since 1921 until now.my friend scored it from england a short while back.something like this i am but a caretaker for.these were mass produced during these years in the U.S. with probably near a million made the first year.not so much in england though..:):eatdrink047:

I think they are the same blades, just packaged in a container without a key. Which makes them a pain in the butt to use with an injector razor as you have to reload them into an old "keyed" cartridge if you actually want to "inject" them into your razor.

I used the same setup today as the last two shaves, except unlike last time, I actually bowl lathered again.

I loaded heavily with quite a wet brush, dribbled a bit more water into the bowl, then started swirling. After a minute or so, I added another dribble of water. The result was fairly thick creamy lather in the bowl and a fully loaded brush. I was then able to work a decent layer of lather into my week-old whiskers.

The shave was good. One pass WTG on the face and ATG on the neck got me from "hobo with a week of whiskers" back to "decently cleanshaven". I then relathered. With what was left in the bowl and brush, I was only able to get a very thin layer of lather painted on my face the second time -- I don't think a third pass would have been possible without reloading the brush from the soap tub. However, the thin layer was slick enough to allow a second pass overall without any damage. The second pass -- XTG on the face and mostly WTG on the neck - got me to DFS just short of BBS.

No nicks, dots, or razor burn patches, although the alum was mildly warm in places. I had the sense that the injector blade was not as sharp on its 13th outing as it was on the 1st although it was not at all tuggy and still cut well. I suspect I will be changing it out after a couple more shaves.

The splash was a nice finish. It not only smelled good, it provided a bit of moisturizing balm everywhere together with a mild menthol tingle for an energizing kick.

I was left clean and refreshed.

Hope everyone is off to a good start to their week.
