Joseph believe it or not I'm keeping track. My first puck of Tabac (Tallow) was good for 152 shaves. My current puck (Veggie) has 69 shaves in the books. I'm really enjoying it and wouldn't mind if I can get 1000 shaves out of it. Paul

March 18, 2024 Hone 15S Feather Rudy Vey Rover with Muhle XL STF Antiga Barbearia de Bairro Shave Soap Antiga Barbearia de Bairro Chiado Aftershave Happy Monday Everyone. I started this 3017 with approximately 130 grams of soap. Thus far I have used roughly 40 grams of soap. I thinking I am making good progress thus far. Take care and have a great day.
For me it's not problem. I love the scent. No matter which soap I use, I always finish with Tabac AS.
Monday, March 18 AoS Sandalwood~~Semogue SOC Boar~~Wolfman WR2/Weber Bulldog/Sharp Star~~Oud 24 Hours This angle gives you a better idea of how much product I have left. Honestly, transferring it to the bowl and allowing it to firm up mos def® made it last longer. Last shave with this blade as it's getting iffy on the neck. Finished with Oud 24 Hours.
You are making good progress on your 3017, Joseph. My lower neck used to be one of my trouble spots. In my case, fanatical (hysterical? maniacal?) skin stretching helps tremendously. I use a scrunched up tissue in my 0ff-hand to help grab and stretch my skin, starting at the jawline and carefully following behind the razor head all the way down my neck. The tissue works better than alum on my fingertips. I usually perform two slow N-to-S (ATG) passes on my neck that get me very close to BBS. I can get away with ATG passes even with multiple days of growth, particularly since I swap blades every three shaves. Occasionally I will finish with a bit of j-hooking to smooth out any remaining stubble. Can you recommend a genuine Oud starter fragrance that won't break the bank? I'm not sure I've ever smelled Oud (at least that I'm aware), but I'm curious. I just looked at your Shave Den. Wow, you have a tremendous stank collection. Do you take any special storage precautions to ensure longevity and quality? I keep my stanks not currently in use in a basement cabinet (dark and cool). I appreciate you starting this thread. It has put me in the mindset of enjoying what I have instead of wanting "the next best thing." The enjoyment of my shaves has returned, and I've since begun shaving almost daily again. The Aesop bowl you recently gifted me has been a game changer. There's something about creating a bowl lather than I find very satisfying, and it allows me to dial in the perfect consistency. The design of the bowl is perfect, yet small enough to carry in my travel case. It sees near daily use. Thank you again for it.
I just found the Oud thread...all set here. https://theshaveden.com/forums/threads/oud-suggestions.68020/
March 18th Occam’s DE ‘Scalloped Plate’ w PermaSharp (1) Simpsons CH2 Synth Fine Platinum Classic SS Thayers Stirling Baker Street The Occam’s is a fine shaver that I simply don’t reach for often enough. I’ll give it a run this week. The soap destroyer did its work, but I smushed the soap back to the middle after the shave. The pic is deceiving in that regard. Take care all.
Charlie, I fell down the Stank Hole a while back. I have since climbed my way back out 90%...85%? My bottles are kept in two large, plastic bins in a wardrobe we have. Not necessarily cool, but cooler and away from the light. Oud has a couple of interpretations. Western and Middle-Eastern. The first "recognized" western oud was YSL M7; created when Tom Ford was running things. However, insiders would point to Balenciaga Pour Homme, which predates the YSL by 12 years. Natural Oud is a rare and expensive commodity. I have a 1ml vial of Cambodian Oud, which I occasionally reach for. Not often. It has, what's been described as a "barnyard" scent. Some less knowledgeable people use the word "fecal". I completely disagree with that. Oud layers well with Rose, Leather, Sandalwood and even fruitier scents, such as Yuzu. I describe Oud as earthy, church-like, old library, and maybe animalic. I recommended an Oud Cologne to Chris on the other "Oud" thread. It is Dehn el Oodh Malaki. Available on Amazon for $70. It is a very natural Oud scent, without flowers or fruit. While I don't reckon there's a ton of oud in it, I like it a lot.

Switched up the razors a bit and went with the Pils. Once the angle is mastered this is a wonderful smooth and efficient razor. Take care and have a great day everyone.
Thanks Joseph. I appreciate all the useful info, and I will check out the cologne you referenced on Amazon. Please forward a floor plan of your home showing the exact locations of your wardrobe and ice cream freezer. Remind me again...when were you planning to go on vacation?
Tuesday, March 19 AoS Sandalwood~~Simpson Milk Churn~~Gillette New LC/Sharp Star Ready to move on from this soap... no...I will forge on. Fresh Sharp Star did the job nicely. The knot in the MC is actually a two-band Super Badger. I have discovered that Simpson would often fill already-made handles with different qualities of hair. The grey box I have confirms this. Not-pictured stank: Sospiro Tenore. (catchy name)
