    Hi Chris.

My name is Charlie, and I'm an ancient hillbilly shaver and a former 30 Day Crew member. I stopped by the 30 Day Crew for a month and hung around for several years. I am a slow learner. :) I like good shaves, making friends, and not taking any of this too seriously. I occasionally stop to make sure @Trigger is not requiring everyone to perform head shaves in order to participate. ;)

First of all, I enjoy reading your posts. Tabac is one of my favorite soaps. I had a 37C for awhile, and I enjoyed it also.

Just my 2 cents. The only time my razor gets clogged with soap is when I use too little water. I was a face latherer for many years. I recently acquired an Aesop bowl as a gift (any bowl would have probably worked, but I like the design of the Aesop bowl), and I started bowl lathering and giving more focus to hydrating the lather. It adds a minute or two to my routine, but it was a game changer for me. I've always been able to shave daily, but my shaves are now even closer and more comfortable. Skin stretching (like my life depends on it, learned from using a shavette for awhile) was my biggest recent game changer, and bowl lathering/hydration falls next in line. This advice is free and is maybe a bit overpriced. :D

Bottom line, have fun and enjoy your great shaves! I will follow your progress with great interest.

I concur with Charlie. Lather needs to have sufficient hydration to make it slick and clog proof. The extra 2 minutes whipping a lather beyond what most shavers do while adding increments of water is essential. Once you find the right balance for a particular soap then your golden. The difficulty of making a good lather is that different soaps require different amounts of water to get a fine lather. Some soaps immediately explode into a yogurty lather while others require more time to work it. In wetshaving, one size fits all does not apply: That's true for blades, razors and obviously, soaps.

Yes, I did a face shave this morning and I could have done the headshave as well. I waited to do it this evening and not feel rushed for time. As I have mentioned previously, I will load the brush from the puck and facelather TSD soaps so there won't be any lather pictures.
Anyway, I upped the setting to full throttle on the razor and got a nice, dolphin smooth shave. Three passes of errorless headshaving was in my gamebook and I executed perfectly.
There wasn't any alum feedback. Finished with the witch hazel and the matching aftershave. This was the way to end the day with a relaxing headshave. I will keep this setup for tomorrow's face shave. That's if I don't hold off on it until Saturday. I will see how I feel about it tomorrow. Take care.
