Sunday, April 21 Mike's Bay Rum~~Simpson CH2 Synthetic Badger~~2011 Mühle R41/Weber Bulldog/Sharp Star~~Dominica Bay Rum Just got back from a camping trip. Took the XPEC and finished it off. Gotta look good when "glamping". I bowl-lathered some of the best goo in a long time. The Mike's soap is so good. Speaking of good, the R41 is a desert island razor---especially when loaded with a Sharp Star. Dominica Bay Rum for the flourishing finish.
You exceeded XPECtations on this 3017, Joseph. Nice work! Hope you and Dr. Mrs. Primo had a fun glamping trip. That is some good looking lather. Mike's is one of my favorite soaps as well.
April 22, 2024 Cobra Classic Feather Pro Shavemac Synthetic Stirling Glacial Citron Shave Soap & Aftershave Happy Monday. I have never really used a mentholated soap on a regular basis. However, I can now understand what all the fuss is about. The each morning is very nice. Take care and have a great day.
I’d forgotten about the old “blood on steel” custom soap. I must not have loved the scent either since I haven’t seen that tub in a long time. I’m guessing I PIF’d it or sent it out as a Shavey award. Also, FWIW, I have not posted much lately, as life seems to be a series of brutal tests at the moment, but I am lurking in the background and enjoying watching (in a non-creepy kind of way…)
It’s good to hear from you Randy. Life does seem to come all at once. I hope things get better for you soon. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
April 23, 2024 Cobra Classic Feather Pro Simpson CH2 Synthetic Stirling Glacial Citron Shave Soap & Aftershave Happy Tuesday Everyone. I must say I am destroying this soap with @Primotenore patented "Fast & Loose" lathering method. Thus far I have used used 51 grams of the 126 grams of soap in 12 shaves. This soap will be sunk very soon. Take care and have a great day
April 24, 2024 Feather AS D2 Feather PAA ShaveRite 210 Stirling Glacial Citron Shave Soap & Aftershave Happy Wednesday Everyone. The Feather AS-D2 is often maligned for being to "mild". While the razor does have a narrow sweet spot, it will deliver a stellar shave when I do my part. Take care and have a wonderful day.
I've decided to flip one, maybe two, soaps this week, as there just isn't enough left for me to do a decent shave in each. It isn't quite a Titanic for them, but close enough for my standards. I expecr to reorder them in the fall&winter anyway, as I enjoyed them. More details later.
I've completed four shaves so far with the Bigelow-Parkin travel razor. It took a shave or two to become accustomed to the grip. It helps to keep the pads of my index finger and thumb on my shaving hand dry, and I take care to avoid the blade edge when flipping the head around with my opposite hand. I'm still working on the ATG pass on my upper lip and just under my nose, but I expect to eventually master these moves. I shave slower and more intentionally with the B-P, which is probably a good thing anyway. The shaves are nearly as good as any I can get from a regular DE. I've yet to nick myself, and the alum has been as quiet as a full house at The Met being captivated by @Primotenore's rendition of the ancient vocal art (yodeling). Mos def.
When I get down to the last bits of a soap, I scoop it out and press it in with another puck. I can't tell that it affects the scent or performance in any way. I've even taken shaving soaps that I didn't care for and used 'em up in the sink or shower. I hate to throw good shaving products away.
@wristwatchb, I've determined that the Ukrainian soap you sent has very little scent to it, thus I will use it with any A.S.(since it came from you I'll be a nice man and not use Clubman-course it doesn't matter, as I have lots of barbershop soap anyway).
Sounds good, Paul. Use Clubman to your heart's content. Thanks to the prevailing winds across the U.S., I am safe.
I hate to as well. Perhaps I'll take the advice of a gentleman here who scoops it out from the circumference of the puck to the center, thus making it easier to load.
