    Days growth = 1

    Prep = HOT water prep
    Preshave = none
    Cream = TOBS Jermyn Street, face lathering
    Brush = The Vulfix old original
    Bowl = none, Face Lathering
    Razor = Gillette No 46 Popular OC
    Blade = Bolzano (2), still feeling nice and smooth
    Passes = 1 +
    Post = Usual CWR, Alum, rinse, pat dry, Thayers,
    ASL = PR Rinfrescante
    Scent = PR Cypress and Vetyver Cologne
    Score = 9

    Damage = None

    Thoughts = Carrying on with my face lathering focus

    Pre work shave, worked out well with just one pass plus some touch ups! DFS achieved all round, BBS not needed today. The Popular feels just like the Gillette Rocket HD despite being an open comb but is more efficient. However it still allows for some pressure without feeling threatening

    The TOBS Jermyn Street is fast nearing the end of the tube: thus far I have been using it as pre-shave prep and have been wanting to use it on its own for face lathering. Today was the day. I was not disappointed, it lathered up beautifully with the Old Vulfix Pure Badger old original. Very little if any scent to the cream. What a waste to use this as a preshave! Superb lather on its own. Would I replace this when it is finished? Yes, but only if I had no other creams left, and wanted a great non-scented cream to start with

    Hope your Wednesdays are treating you well

    Thx Gary

    Thanks Barry, Bolzano's are cool they work for me!

    That's neat, near BBS with a dullish blade and no Alum feedback!

    Thanks Joe, slicker but not dripping is what I aim for these days

    Superb shave Joe, enjoy the sunshine

    Thanks Joe

    Lovely pic and setup. Why only a 3.5 out 5?! Sounds a lot better to me! Btw, under the nose I used to start North to South but now always start diagonally and in the 2nd pass go West to East or East to West, using just part of the DE blade. Sounds like you have it sussed in one! :happy088:

    Thanks Gary

    thanks Joe

    And again thanks Joe

    Thanks Chris!

    Yeah, I think I low balled the rating. It was a pretty darned good shave and I was really happy with the results. Maybe because I felt like I did a lot of touching up on my neck after two passes and that led to a little bit of irritation. But that was more me than the razor. I think with more shaves my skill level will bring out the best in this razor and I'll see a 5 of 5.

    Good tip on getting around the nose.

    Excellent post and shave Chris. I used to think what was the point of an unscented soap. I don't have Sensitive skin. However, I realized that you can use any aftershave because there wouldn't be any scents competing with each other.

    I think scented soaps can be a bit overated, because like you said, you're very likely to use an aftershave which will just mask the soap scent anyway. On the other hand, I guess scented shave soaps do make for a more pleasant shave. But maybe most importantly, it counteracts the dead animal smell of the badger brush!:shocked003:

    Today's shave was a return to the Proraso combo. I had it yesterday too but was upset with it. Much better today. For beginners, I held the can under the tap water in the hopes of warming up the foam inside prior to the shave. I've done this before, seems to help. Clean and clear along the cheeks&sieburns, both ends of Porcupine, and most of Cactus. Need to work more on the jawline and North Cactus. One pass. No cuts, Polka-dots, one Knick along the lip(ouch). Nice close from the Proraso A.S. Super Duper Outstanding.

    Jim, I think you misunderstood my post. The benefit of an unscented soap is that you can use any aftershave with it. I prefer scented soaps with the matching splash and/or EdT.

    Good morning.

    Schick I-1 Injector
    Ted Pella Injector Blade (fresh, 2)
    MrEE LE #10 Cashmere Brush
    Stirling Spice SS and AS
    Stirling Alum Block
    Personal Care Witch Hazel
    Beard Growth: 24 hrs
    Dome Turf: 2.5 days

    20240424_092635.jpg

    It's another dome and headshave for this morning’s session. I decided to use my Schick I-1 Injector once again because I replaced the blade. Did 3 passes on the head and face for a super smooth shave. Did get a weep on my right side above the temple. Every so often, I hit that spot and it appears. Maybe I have an invisible pimple. Lol. Anyway, it wasna good dual shave.
    Here's today's lather:

    The only alum feedback was the zing from the head weeper. Splashed on the witch hazel and the matching aftershave and I am good to go. Take care.

    Oh, I just meant that North Cactus(near the jawline)could use some improvement, both at the center and, of course, the ingrown hairs to the right of center. Probably will do better eith soaps than goo(course it IS Proraso goo).

    Man Joe, your lather is second to none. Looks more like cool whip than shaving cream! I have to work on that a bit.

    Nice lineup as always!
