    Nicely done Chris.
    Bluetiful Gary.
It's rare to find vintage razors in antique shops. There aren't that many shops on Long Island. Safe trip home Jim.

    April 29 SOTE

    Good evening.

    Shavette Shave # 546
    Master Barber Magic
    1/2 Derby DE Blade (2)
    MrEE Tuxedo Brush
Angora Soaps Midnight Lavender SS and AS
    Stirling Alum Block
    Personal Care Witch
    Beard Growth: 27 hrs

I did an error-free BBS shave. I am still getting used to this shavette because the angle is very shallow. I am not on autopilot with it, but I am getting there. I have to say it does perform well. The Derby Blade is quite efficient, but I felt a spot on the edge that was very sharp. It may be a spur, but I am not sure. I will shave with this blade one more time and if it happens again, then I will switch it out with a different brand.
I made enough lather for at least 5 passes. I did a 4th lather pass just to smell that awesome scent. Anyway, here's my lather:

I had negligible alum feedback. Splashed on the witch hazel and the matching aftershave and I am clean and refreshed. Also, I smell nice. Take care.

it's nice, but to my nose, rather mild

    Thanks Gary, almost fine!

fine shave, sounds like the wave is playing nicely

Great looking lather again Joe. That's the nice thing about bowl lathering, there is always enough lather left to enjoy!

Thanks Chris. I enjoy whipping up creamy and slick lather. Anyone can do it. It just takes patience and some technique.

    Greetings,

    Early morning shave,

    (Face & Head Shave)

A close comfortable BBS face and head shave to finish the month off superbly.

The Dorco prime platinum blade still felt smooth and efficient on it's third outing, which in my opinion is very good. Doing a head shave with any blade is equivalent of two face shaves in my way of thinking, as I find head shaving dramatically dulls the edge of a blade, lowering the longevity of a blade much quicker than it does with face shaving. YMMV. Another thing that has impressed me with the Dorco Prime Platinum is that every blade I've used from the batch has been good, not one blade has been a dud. The manufacturing QC quality at the Vietnam plant is excellent.

In May I will continue my focus with Ming Shi 2000s Futur clone for my combined face & head shaves and continue to use a variety DE razors for my face shaves pairing them all together with the Dorco Prime Platinum and trying out the four packs of La Barbiera shaving soaps that I've had for sometime but haven't got round to trying them out.

Finishing the shave off with a few small dollops of Nivea Men Replenishing PSB.

My face & precious swede are feeling smooth & smelling divine.;)

Keep safe, and enjoy your day ladies & gentlemen.

    Days growth = 1

    Prep = HOT water soak
Preshave = T&H No 10 gel. Hmm, could this work on its own rather than as a preshave?
    Cream/Soap = TOBS Oud
Brush = Simpson Chubby 2 Pure Badger
    Bowl = Timeless
Razor = Gillette New long OC
Blade = Shark Super Chrome (2) binned in disgust
Passes = 3 or more, maybe 4 even
Post = Usual CWR, Alum, CWR, Thayers
After shave care = Nivea Men Sensitive Post shave balm since I was feeling a bit roughed up
ASL = PR Barbe Dure with Oud oil
    Scent = Red Musk
Damage = no blood was shed, but I am heavily exfoliated, but also super-duper smooth all over, except for Zone 8 where I bailed out just short of scraping off too much skin

    Another hard work shave
    TOBS Oud lathered OK
The Gillette NEW presented the Shark blade to the face superbly, but the blade failed to do its duty. Nearly 4 passes were needed using extreme care, light pressure and multiple strokes. Short, controlled strokes with a clear end point to the stroke-persuasion were the order of the day, especially where the contours of the face changed from vale to hill, some might say where porcupines and cacti intersect at the crossroads. No long sweeping strokes are permitted with this razor. The Shark, despite its name, made a rather dull and lacklustre appearance, and so was summarily discharged to the blade bank

It’s beginning to sink into my thick skull that although any razor/blade/brush/soap combinations will work, not all are equal. I will want to go back to my notes and make a list of the combinations that have served me well. There, how’s that for OCD:rolleyes:

Hope your shaves today went a bit better!

Winner of a shave this monring, back with CF Sherlock, but a different

    Brush-Stoylin Mid-Sized No Name Synthetic

Again the soap jumped onto the brush, sign for good things to happen. Great work all-around, no cuts, Knicks, Polka-dots. Again, I divided razor direction at Cactus from going North-South on top, South-North on bottom. By going South-North on top, I always risk having a cut at the jawline. 2 passes. With the Earth scent of Sherlock, I may keeo it around for summer use. No Menthol in Sherlock, but it's a nice cool comfortable feel. As Outstanding As It Gets.

I liked your usage of "intersect at the crossroads". Also, the fact that you wrote "porcupines and cacti" isn't lost on me. Nice report. Ever think of working at the Bill Shakespeare Creative Writing firm? :)

    Early Mornin Shave

    Prep

    Hot shower
    Shaving Emporium pre shave soap
    Anonymous boar brush
    Preraso shave soap

Fatip Piccolo SE Razor open comb
    Trig blade, new

    Post Shave

    Cold water rinse
    No alom block
    Old Spice aftershave

Nice shave this morning! It's good to be home with all of my accoutrements. The Fatip did a wonderful job. I used the open comb and the shave was effortless and unremarkable, which I look at like a good thing! I did 2 passes and some touch ups, and zero irritation or nicks. My only ding on this razor is the handle is a bit slippery, but other than that, I really like it. I wanted to use the Schick Krona to keep with the April theme, but I hadn't unpacked it from my trip. And besides, April is almost over!;)

My technique is definitely getting better. My last 4 shaves have been effortless and trouble free. Thanks to everyone in this thread!

they take a short while to break in,they also hog lather for the first couple of shaves.giving them a shampoo and conditioner wash helps a little when fisrt purchased.let the conditioner soak in for a bit, hour or so before rinsing it out, then let dry.
