Happy Friday!!!! This 3017 is going by pretty quickly. There is roughly 42 grams of soap remaining, so I should be finished in two weeks or so. My face is :Animatedfrozensmily: and I absolutely love it. Take care everyone and have a great day.

Thank you Joseph. I had a Timeless SS that I sold back in 2016 and have regretted it ever since. I must say I am enjoying the scalloped safety bar more than my previous OC.

awesome set up and pic Joseph.:cool:i often woder about a second DE type razor, vintage of course.i hasd the cooper monobilt and traded it off to a member here, barbasol floating head, or lereshe #51.which do you prefer?,differences?,i like the looks of the lereshe..

That's a tough question. They both are attractive razors. Both have, imo, aggressive blade-exposure. The Leresche is more nimble and will bite at the slightest misstep. The Barbasol is much heavier and balances towards the handle. I can't say which one I "prefer", but I can say that I have become comfortable using both razors and they each are a pleasure with which to shave. (Cop-out answer, I know). :)

thank you for your honest opinion.:)i know our colleage Jeff @jgreenepa loves/d his Lereshe razor, and our Jason @jtspartan loves his Barbasol floating head.so when you have showcased both i was curious.i do have heavier, more aggressive gillettes at my disposal(brit red tip,#21 aristocrat,,brit bostonian, adjustables) and i like them for a change, but the lereshe, barbasol .and red ring all seem to command attention on the forums.end of the day i know the answer, buy and try..;).sorry for the long winded reply.:):eatdrink047:

The Proraso 3017 continues at a steady pace. I picked up a few Proraso products in 2022 when my Bride and I visited the Old Country. It's cool that you find top-performing products like these for bargain prices in grocery and drug stores there. I shared some of them with @Paul Turner, and what I have in this here repurposed genuine plastic tub with screw-off lid is all I have left.

This was my 15th consecutive shave with the Bigelow-Parkin travel razor. I am flush with Feather blades, so I swap 'em after three shaves. It took a couple of shaves to get the hang of the grip, but since then, the shaves have been excellent. All near-BBS and very comfortable. I've had maybe three polka dots that appeared after the shaves were complete, and one small boo-boo due to operator error (failure to stretch out a section of 62-year old skin prior to dragging blade edge over it). The key to success with this razor, in my opinion, is that I shave more slowly and intentionally with it. Not bad at all for a 103-year old razor that set me back a fiver last year. I'm guessing there are just a handful of guys living today that have put 15 shaves on a Bigelow-Parkin razor.

The antique shop owner thought I was nuts for buying it, but the joke's on him. I plan to check out his shop again this summer when we return to Rochester, MN. I'm hoping for a cased Gillette Double Ring, and I'm willing to offer $7.50 for it.

I need to brag on the brush a little bit. It was made by my friend @Jayaruh from hometown bat wood I scored from the Louisville Slugger Museum and Factory. Kathy and I are planning a meetup with Jim soon, and we can't wait to meet him and his Bride in person. For full disclosure, the Omega knot in JR 160 has a handful of dark hairs. Manly men like myself may be unable to yodel, but they embrace the character dark hairs add to the brush and the vigorous scrub they provide. I'm sure it was a hand-selected knot from the Omega factory sent directly to me via the Amazon warehouse. They don't call it Amazon Prime for nuthin'.

On to my other goodies. The Oud Palao Eau de Parfum Diptyque was a gift from @Primotenore. This scent is a powerhouse (1 spray is plenty for the day), and I enjoy the combination of Oud, Rose, Wood, and Tobacco. This is Oud sample #2 of 4 from Joseph. I prefer it by far over sample #1 which was straight-up Oud. I've got a few days left on it to form my final opinion, but so far, so good. I'm also loving the Aesop bowl that Primo gave me. It has allowed me to better control my lather hydration and is just plain fun to use. I consider it a game-changer in the quality and enjoyment of my shaves...so much so, that I've gone back to daily shaving.

@Keithmax gave me the AHC aftercare products. I use 'em after my shaves and then reapply them at night time. They are top-shelf products made in Korea that are lightly enough scented to use before bed and even in my volunteer work at the hospital. Judging from the quality of Korean-made products, I think we all now know why Keith looks so young and full of vim and vigor.

While I was enjoying my unhurried Derby Day shave, my Bride was making lunch which included freshly-baked banana walnut bread. After my shave and prior to my epicurean lunch experience, I donned my Piggly Wiggly tee-shirt that I picked up on a recent field trip to Gurley, AL with my dear friends Keith and Bama Samurai, Chris.

@Str8on2, this old hillbilly declares this to a flat-out, straight-up luxury shave for the reasons stated above.

I hope you all are having a great weekend.

Happy Sunday Everyone. I am off to take my Mother to lunch today. At least I was able to get in a fabulous shave before leaving. This Timeless razor is now just automatic for me. I am enjoying the scalloped bar much more than the OC of my previous SS Timeless. Take car and have a great day everyone.

Old school with the George Woshtenholme big blade. The CB is a nice soap and I enjoy the scent but with 80+-% left it is not likely to be the next 3017.
    J - 1.jpeg

Proraso in the tub never worked for me but the in the tube, wondeful. I enjoy using this one in the summer but way to much left to be called for the next 3017.

We now have the next 3017 target with about 20% left, will not be repurchased and good performance I present Razo Rock The Freedburg.

Have fun on your travels, Keith. You have the perfect travel kit there. The mosquitoes will not be happy, though.

If you get a chance, get me a souvenir Piggly Wiggly t-shirt and a Rolex Explorer.
