    May 10 Headshave

    Good afternoon.

    1959 Gillette Fatboy (9)
    Zorrik DE Blade (7)
    Hembree/ Maggard Timberwolf Brush
    Van der Hagen Select SS
    Aqua Velva Ice Blue AS
    Stirling Alum Block
    Personal Care Witch Hazel
    Dome Turf: 5.75 days

    I decided to use my Fatboy since I already had it out from yesterday's face shave and with almost 6 days growth, I needed a heavy hitter. I have not shave my head with this much growth in many, many years. I went full throttle on the setting and was kind of expecting a weep. It wasn't the case with this headshave. Three passes without any touch-ups gave me an awesome BBS result. This Zorrik blade did a phenomenal job taking down my dense growth without a problem.
    The VdH Select Soap is very slick and I made sure that it was well hydrated. Here's my lather:

    I didn't get any nicks, weeps or cuts so I was happy with this headshave. The alum didn't give any feedback. Splashed on the witch hazel and the AQ Ice Blue aftershave to seal the deal. Take care.

    Saturday 11 May 2024
    Days growth = 1

    11 May 2024.jpg

    Prep = 3 x COLD water soak
    Preshave = Proraso cypress and vetiver
    Soap = Cella
    Brush = Pura Setola
    Bowl = Timeless
    Razor = Schick E type canadian
    Blade = Personna if I remember correctly, day 2’ish
    Passes = 2 ++
    Post = Usual CWR, Alum, rinse, pat dry, Thayers,
    ASL = Cella
    Scent = Black Oud
    Score = 9 very nice

    Damage = None

    Scooped Cella into the bowl, adding water from there, could have been a bit thin, but still worked superbly well

    Black Oud to round off the shave

    This SE shave was a good one. The E type handle is the perfect length and allows the bottom of the handle to rest on the little finger. Perfect shape, the M3 handle is too square in cross section and makes it less manoeuvrable for me. Getting the angle just right towards the end of the shave, with just the lightest of touches. The Gillettes allow for more pressure, this E type is telling you “no pressure, mate!” No ATG around the mouth with this razor, certainly wasn’t needed

    Very happy start to the Saturday, hope your Saturdays turn out super fine

    Thank you Chris. I'll be honest and admit my early shaves with the Ming Shi 2000s where an horrible experience, resulting in a bloodbath. At first I put the blame down to me buying a dodgy razor, when the truth be told the horrendous shaves where all caused by yours truly by been far too over-zealous for perfection having horrendous technique and not having enough shaving confidence, which is essential when shaving with the assertive Ming Shi 2000s. "A bad worker always blames his tools". My focus run with it recently has been a joy providing me with flawless results. Enjoy your weekend. Yours-Barry.

    Great shave to start the weekend Chris. "The lightest of touch" is essential with Injectors & SE razors, especially the vintage ones.

    SE blades

    My Schick Injector Key is now empty

    I bought some Proline B-20 from Connaughts last year not knowing there was no key..duh!

    from memory there might have a thread showing how to load the blades into the injector with key. Can't see how to open it though and I don't want to back them in one by one either

    hints? tips? links?

    Thanks in advance
