Chris, you can easily tell which Schick "E" will open and which won't by looking at the swivelling spring holding the baseplate closed. There is a ridge under the baseplate that acts as a spring stop. On the E-1 that was intended to open, the end of the spring is solid and rests against one side of the stop. This allows the spring to pivot away from the stop, freeing the bottom of the baseplate. On the E-2 and later that are not intended to open, the end of the spring is notched and fits around both sides of the stop, locking the spring in place.

Here are not-great-but-usable photos of two Schick "E" models. The spring on the one on the left (E-2 or later) is notched and fixed in place, the one on the right (E-1) is free to swivel. The third photo shows the E-1 with spring swivelled open.

    Hope that helps.

The Proraso Blue shaving cream created a nice creamy slick protective lather with only a small amount in a short space of time The residual slickness is excellent leaving a superb post-shave from the addition of the Aloe Vera and vitamin E making my mature skin feel soft & moisturized after the shave.

Finishing the shave off with a few small squirts of Milton-Lloyd Essentials No 17 EdP to the pulse points.

    SE Shave # 384

    Rating: 5 / 5

    Razor: Yaqi SE Chrome
    Blade: Perma-Sharp
Brush: Leo Frilot Custom NYR 26 mm Synthetic
    Pre-Shave: Pears Transparent Soap
    Lather: Stirling Electric Sheep
Aftershave: Stirling Electric Sheep - Glacial
    Additional Care:
    Omega Alum
    Dickenson’s Original Witch Hazel
    Stirling Unscented Glacial Balm

One day late post. Just too busy yesterday. I had a fantastic three pass shave with the Yagi SE razor. There are two versions of this razor, one that take an Artist blade and the other take a snapped DE blade. I prefer this razor as it take the DE blade.

As usual the Stirling soap did not disappoint. I have a baker’s dozen of Stirling soaps in my collection. Only two are full tubs. Given my collection of soaps in both dens, if I choose to pick up any additional Stirling soaps in the distant future it will be of the sample variety. That plan may hold true to any additional purchases of any soaps.

Hope you all had a great Saturday.

I know it is not because of the waitress. I have seen Joe, @Trigger, it full smooze mode but I can not comment on his side adventures. That being said, when he first posted it I gave it the name “Dumbo Bowl” for two reasons. First, the color as it is close to the of Disney’s Dumbo. Second, the “handles” on the bowl look like Dumbo’s ears.

if I am correct, Joe picked it up cheap at a bargain store such as Dollar Tree or Dollar General.
