Fine shave this morning, going back to lovely goo for a couple days. The Proraso set me up nicely along my fance and neck. Clean and clear shave all over(yes, including South Porcupine). Zero cuts, Knicks, Polka-Dots. Getting all this foam on made me think about the advice of getting more shave soap on when doing the soap&brush routine. The more, the merrier((Who wrote that, Bill Shakespeare? Ed Poe(Edgar Allan, that is)? Ernie Hemingway? Anyway, a nice finish from Proraso Barbe Dure A.S. made it a pleasing shave overall. Super Duper Outstanding.

You are absolutely correct Joe. However, you neglected to mention the design inside the bottom of the bowl with 2 eyes and a trunk.

May 12 Mother's Day Morning Shave.

    Good morning.

    Mühle R102
    Zorrik DE Blade (fresh)
    JR # 290 Cashmere Brush
    PAA/King R Emporium SS
    Pinaud-Clubman Classic AS
    Stirling Alum Block
    Personal Care Witch Hazel
    Beard Growth: 2.5 days

I really looked scruffy and I was overdue for a shave. I picked out my Mühle R102 (R41) to cut down the jungle on my face. Went with a fresh Zorrik blade. I really like this blade. I have never had a problem with this brand.
I decided to go with the PAA/King R Emporium because it's very slick which is very important in order to shave my thick growth. Besides, it makes a very creamy lather. Here's my lather:

    20240512_102429.jpg

Did 3 errorless passes for a BBS result.
The alum produced some zing and stings, but I expected as much because of the thick stubble and über aggressive razor.
Splashed on the witch hazel and the Pinaud-Clubman Classic aftershave to finish. I am improving, but my stomach is still under the weather. I feel much stronger, but I can't go full throttle. This virus was like a roller-coaster. One moment I am fine and the next...
Anyway, let's remember our mothers and for those of you that still have them, you are blessed. Take care.

Great shaves, gents! I expect your mothers would all be proud of how clean, neat and respectable you now look!

Joe @Trigger, glad to hear that you are on the mend. You seem to have had a real bout of it with that virus. But it sounds like you are being careful about easing into eating full meals again. I guess there is a reason that chicken soup is so often quoted as a home remedy for virus-type ailments - nourishing and internally warming while being easy to swallow and easy to digest.

Sunday morning May 12 - Simplicity & Injector Blade Focus

Prep: Hot face wash with Aleppo olive oil soap with 20% bay laurel oil

Razor: Supply 2.0 matte black stainless steel injector with "SE" open comb plate; Japanese-made Supply Black Label blade (1)

    Soap: Arko stick

    Brush: Supply Silvertip Synthetic 24mm

    Lather Bowl: None

Post: rinse, alum, rinse - and nothing else

Last shave: Thursday evening - 2.5 days

    The shave stuff:

    The blade array:

    IMG_20240509_080145_burst_01_kindlephoto-62059434.jpg

Top to bottom: Vintage American-made Schick Plus Platinum, Japanese-made Supply Black Label, American Personna-made house-branded Supply White Label, standard white cartridge of American-made Personnas.

I am continuing the Test Plan. Today I tried the second blade, the Supply Black Label. I loaded a fresh one in my Supply 2.0/SE injector. As usual, I cheated and placed it into the disassembled razor instead of injecting it. Thus removing any possibility of "blade scrape" error from the blade test.

The Arko stick and synthetic brush created a quick and plentiful lather, as usual. I then did my two standard passes of WTG on the face and ATG on the neck, then XTG on the face and WTG on the neck.

It was a "verra verra fine" shave. The blade was very sharp and smooth, shaving away the lather and taking all the whiskers with it. The result was nearly a BBS.

The alum block shard was a tiny bit warm on my lower neck but no real stinging or burning sensation anywhere.

I still think the vintage Schick blade has a very slight edge on the Black Label for sharpness and smoothness, but it is a very thin margin between them. Meanwhile the Black Label wins on cost and ease of acquisition. The Black Label is current manufacture while the American-made Schicks were discontinued 20 to 30 years ago and are strictly a "scour eBay" item. I laid in a hefty stock of the Schicks over a decade ago when bulk lots of them were plentiful on eBay and shipping was cheaper. I probably wouldn't even bother now.

Most experienced users on the forums who have tried both say that the American Schicks were better blades than the currently made Chinese Shicks (Chicks), although the quality difference is not huge. I don't have any Chicks to test myself. Assuming that is true, the ranking there would then likely be Black Label and then Chicks.

I had intended to shave daily during this test. However, on Friday, I broke a molar in late morning and had to spend the afternoon at the dentist, first waiting to be squeezed in and then having the tooth rebuilt. By the time I was done, I was in no mood to do my planned evening shave. And the little free time I had on Saturday, I spent napping between work shifts. Oh well, by my recent standards, 2.5 days between shaves is frequent shaving...

To keep things even, I will now skip shaving tomorrow and will shave on Tuesday evening - in 2.5 days again. I will use either a fresh Supply White Label or Personna white box (same blade), whichever is handiest in my cupboard.

Thanks for the backstory, Joe. The bowl is a dead ringer for Dumbo.

Maybe I can help by naming some of @Trigger's other shaving gear. :D
Thanks Joe. It has been fun using the B-P.

Thanks John. It really knocked me out. I haven't had a protein source in five days. I went to my local bagel shop and had double egg sandwich without bacon and pepper on am unseeded roll and a bottled water. I didn't want to chance it with coffee and orange juice. Had some Chinese restaurant fried noodles shortly after and so far so good. Later, I will have some oatmeal and fruit. I recently found out that this virus was going around. If I didn't improve, then I was ready to go to an urgent care clinic within the next day or so. Fortunately, that's not happening. I will say that I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy. Oh, the pain, the pain. Lol!
