It is a very nice simple Schick and Soap Stick Shave Joe.

Lovely shave set up Joe. If I had to pick a favourite shaving soap, then Palmolive classic shave stick would be a very strong contender.

It's been a while since I last used my the Baili BD191. The long hefty teardrop handle makes the razor 'Bottom heavy' which for personal preferences is a bonus as the weight of the razor does all the work with no for added pressure needed when shaving, especially for head shaving I also like the "closed head design" which reduces the risk of catching my ear lobes or under my nose from the blade ends when shaving... All in all a good razor, apart from the slippery teardrop handle which I rub with my alum block to give it extra adhesion.

Finishing the shave off with a few small squirts of Milton Lloyd The Man Silver EdT to the pulse points.

My face is feeling super smooth & smelling divine.

Very nice shave Barry. The deep red resin handle with the tuxedo knot makes the brush a real looker.

Well it HAS....some members use it as part of their personal hygiene or shaving ritual.. It's kind of expensive, so I'll probably begin with their bath soap(which I'll use at the sink for hand-soap). As I say that, I recall that "expensive" didn't bother me when I made my first Bill Neumann order of $60 to get the free shipping.

Another beauty of a shave this morning-only difference from yesterday being the Jayaruh brush(#59). The minute-load is fast becoming a big part of my shave. Clean&clear all over for a great feel. At one point, I did think I hit a speedbump(around Cactus Nation), but the skin-loving soap and A.S. of Hub City Soap Co.(Pages)brought things back to normal. Again, I must credit the Stoylin bodywash for setting it all up. 2 passes. Zero across the board for cuts, Knicks, Polka-Dots. That's right,@ChrisB, another goose-egg job. . As Outstanding As It Gets.

Today's shave was about 1.5 days after my last instead of my planned 1 day. Close enough...

I am continuing the Test Plan, moving on to durability. Since I already had a vintage Schick blade loaded in my Schick E-1, I just continued on with that razor.

The Arko stick and synthetic brush created a quick and plentiful lather, as usual. I then did my two standard passes of WTG on the face and ATG on the neck, then XTG on the face and WTG on the neck.

The Schick E-1 is an interesting razor. It is much lighter than the Supply 2.0/SE, tempting me to compensate by applying more pressure. In fact, I have to use much less pressure with it, because it is far more aggressive. I used the correct very light touch with it and it rewarded me with an excellent shave. Two passes resulted in a DFS near BBS. I had no nicks, cuts or visible razorburn, but the alum was a bit warm in spots.

To be honest, while the Schick E-1 is a very good razor, I still prefer the Supply, especially if I am going to shave daily. I believe I will transfer the current blade to the Supply tomorrow and use it for the rest of my test.

Awesome setup and shave John. My Schick E-3 is aggressive, but I also need to use a light touch when shaving with it. My I-1 is milder, but it is efficient. I don’t have to worry about pressure when I use it.

I did a 3 passer that resulted in an error-free BBS result. This was the third time that I used this shavette and will say that it turned out the best. I think it may have been that I am more familiar with this razor and that the blade is not as sharp as if it was fresh. Still, I must say that I am impressed with these blades.
Captain's Choice always produces a great lather, but my water/ soap ratio was off so that it was more airy, then creamy. However, I went with it and I still got a great shave. Here's my lather:



The alum didn't give me any feedback so that signals to me that I didn't overshave anywhere. Splashed on the witch hazel and the mtching aftershave to finish the session. Take care.

Great pics and report, Joe! I think the Magic was the first of the shavettes to hit the general market, wasn't it? And it's still one of the better choices out there.

Yes, the Schick razors got steadily less aggressive as the models progressed. The E requires a careful light touch. The identical looking G (except a plastic instead of bakelite handle) was milder. And the later Hydromagic and other models are milder still. My favourite Schicks are both Hydromagics - an I-2 with the square ribbed black handle and a J-1 with the long round cream handle. Very pleasant razors to use.

Thanks John. I know that the Dovo Shavette is really the only razor that can be legally be termed shavette. As far as the Magic razor, I am not familiar with it's history. However, I do know it has been branded by others. Imo, this razor is not for newbies because it doesn't have a built-in angle guide and both the toe and heel are open. However, loading and unloading a blade in this razor is much easier and safer than other shavettes.

It's funny that I won my Schick E-3 in a TSD Raffle years ago. I picked it up because there wasn't anything left that I wanted. So, it was like a consolation prize to my way of thinking. I really didn't want it, but I went with it anyway because something is better than nothing. It was my very first SE safety razor. The first time I shaved with it was ok. However, the second time was much better because I found the sweet spot. I was smiling ever since. However, I do prefer the milder Schick I-1.
