  1. Interesting, do you find the Agar to be mild/medium/strong?

    Joe, I find that comment interesting also: "The Stirling Agar may be the darkest of all the Oud scents...."

    My own Sterling Agar sample has about a week's shaves left. I don't find it to be strong at all. Either I had an old sample from the Melbourne supplier or my nose is duller than I thought!

  2. thanks Joe, but it's still listed on our Melbourne supplier, listing date of 2019. Makes me wonder if it's old stock

    For sure, at least I am good company!

    Thanks Joe

    and thank you Joe

  4. Another great shave John

    That's very helpful John. I can only find the Supply Pro listed here but most all sold out. Only one online supplier has these. Will think about this a bit more. Great info, though :happy088:

    Days growth = 1

    Prep = 3 x HOT water soak
    Preshave = Proraso
    Soap = Sterling Agar
    Brush = Pura Setola
    Bowl = Timeless
    Razor = Gillette Aristocrat
    Blade = GP (2)
    Passes = 2 +

    Damage = immediate redness and two weepers to the left of the Adam’s apple in the first pass

    Post = (groan)

    Cold water

    Alum (wake up call alright)

    Cold water

    Alum

    quenched the blood

    ASL = Old Spice

    I decided to make the lather thicker today. I feel it reduced the blade feel. At one stage I thought, what blade? Is there a blade? Anyway, I was impatient, probably thinking the Aristocrat and the Popular have the same cap and OC design. Very similar if not the same. But the aristocrat is heavier. I was a bit too aggressive today and paid the price. If this were to be a daily occurrence I might be tempted to join the bearded brigade

    Overall Very Smooth Shave, at some cost to my skin and pride

    Hope you all did better today
  6. Nice shave, despite the weeps, Chris.
    One of the many challenges of wetshaving is to adjust to a razor, especially when one has many different types of razors. Knowing what razor will perform the best based on one's beard growth is another challenge. Of course, the right blade/razor combo is just another consideration. Last but not least, the type of shave soap or cream plays into it as well.
    Conclusion, experienced wetshavers can handle all situations. May we all achieve shaving mastery.

    I know it's very late, but I decided to do a headshave. I didn't want to wait for tomorrow morning because then I would be 1 day over due. Besides, I want to concentrate on my face shave for tomorrow morning and I will have close to 40 hrs stubble. I just got lazy. Lol!
    Anyway, I did get a smooth 3 pass dome shave, but got a weep in my trouble area. No biggie. I am almost finished with this soap. It produces a great slick and easy lather.
    Here's my lather:

    20240521_224434.jpg

    Did get some feedback from the alum. I expected it because the I-1 is pretty mild and had to cut a heavier stubble than normal.
    However, it did perform well.
    Witch hazel and the aftershave were liberally splashed to finish the shave. Tomorrow, I will do a straight razor shave with my Henckel's Friodur. Take care.

    Thanks Gary, nice term that, "bump removal" !
    Thanks Gary

    Good result anyway Joe, nice to be able to shave twice per day, once for the dome, once for the face!

    Better outcome today

    Same prep, soap and brush. Made the lather thinner, it certainly helped

    Gillette Rocket HD to the rescue with GP (3)

    Effectively only 2 passes, light WTG only over the skinned area from yesterday, bump protection mode

    No blood was shed today!

    (Usual post treatment)
