I live the lather catchers.. they are the best.. but have been using the MM for most the last week.. It is well worth the time to learn.. well worth it. Dave is a real SE guru ,, I fell like a Grasshopper at his feet . Fuzzy
You would prolly like the Pella coated blades... I use the stuff from the Drug Stores and it works very well for me. I am using some of the Treets right now in the clog proof.. it works wonderful, Fuzzy
I have been talking to a few more people about the Micro Matic so thought I would bump this thread to see if there were any new converts. Fuzzy
I didn't see this thread before. I recently picked up some MM including a brass open-comb MM. I have only had one shave on it so far. No cuts, scrapes, or irritation. Not a bad shave, but i have had much closer. I am waiting to try this again with some different blades. I was using GEM Blue Stars and will try this MM again with some Pella (when I get some) and some odd made in Korea SE blades.
Matt, there is a post over on B about doing this, earlier today I didn't read it too closely, as I didn't really get what they were talking about, but might be worth a look,
I tried the open-ended MM today with a Pella blade (Thanks Bong!). What a difference! It was a great shave! No problems with the razor at all.
I have an open comb micromatic I liked it just need some more practice there is for sure no auto piloting with it. But that makes the shave
There you go.. that's the ticket right there, True.. You have to keep your hands on the controls. That is what I love about it though, Fuzzy
I got in a case today with an open comb micromatic well two actually. One is green the other is maroon top and black bottom.. it looks original. I do not see how the top can be moved off another set without breaking it.. Has anyone else seen a bakelite case like this? Fuzzy
That is what my green one looks like. mine has the blade cases init but on is cracked... does that one have the cases? I can not tell.. That other is the maroon top and black bottom that I am wondering about. Fuzzy
I missed one earlier but I will try again.. the ones like that pictured up there were in the 30's i beleive,, the one that has the Bullet end was the 40's. But do not take that to the bank till an expert rolls through. Fuzzy
