I know it's very late in the evening to do a shave, but I didn't want to wait to do it tomorrow morning. I picked my trusty Dovo and went with the TSD set. I decided to only do 2 passes since it wasn't important to get a BBS shave this late in the evening. Did get a very nice, comfortable and close shave without any oops. I just did a quick lather that was foamy, but I knew it would be slick enough for me to get a good shave. Here's my lather:

    20240603_225512.jpg

I didn't have any alum feedback so that's always nice. Splashed on the witch hazel and the matching aftershave to end this session. I won't need to do a face shave tomorrow, but I see a head shave on the horizon. Take care.
  6. Superb shave set up Chris.

  9. Excellent introduction, Joe.

Just Shaving June works well as a theme for me because I am continuing with my injector blade tests using a plain old Arko shave stick and nothing much else as my shaving software.

I don't have any Edwin Jagger stuff, but I may also toss in the occasional shave with soap and splash from the no longer in business Jeeves of Hudson Street.

  11. Nice shave this morning. Glad to go back to Proraso, but to use their shave soap(Refreshing), PIFed by a gentleman who knows his name, so I don't have to introduce him,(Did I say that right, @wristwatchb?) Refreshing is Proraso' menthol shave soap. I'm happy to have it as part of my summer lineup. The challenge will be using a large brush to load the soap.Smaller might be better with this one. But again this was my first go with the shave soap, so perhaps too early to tell. Zeroes across the board on cuts, Knicks, Polka-dots. The best aftershave I had as a "match" was the Yardley(New York). It was a nice finish, but I'll soon buy the actual match itself from Proraso-the Refreshing A.S. As Outstanding As It Gets.

  12. Thank you Joe. I like to keep things simple with my shave set ups. The humble Palmolive Classic shave stick always provides a superb lather.

  19. June 4 Headshave

    Good afternoon.

    1955 Gillette RedTip
    Gillette Wilkinson Sword DE (8)
    MrEE Tuxedo Brush
    Mühle Sandalwood Shaving Cream
    Aqua Velva Ice Blue AS
    Stirling Alum Block
    Personal Care Witch Hazel
    Dome Turf: 3+ days

    20240604_142526.jpg

I haven't used this Mühle Sandalwood Shaving Cream in years so I needed to use it today. It produces a thin, but very slick lather. You can use a brush to face or head lather, but it still won't give you that voluminous lather. I think it's best to use it as a preshave and lather it with another soap. The scent is long gone, so it won't interfere with any of my shaves soaps.
I did 3 error-free passes, but I had to do plenty of buffing because the blade was on its 8th use. I would have replaced the blade if I had checked prior to the headshave. The blade still did its job, but it definitely took some effort on my part to get a cueball result.
I had very little alum feedback. Splashed on the witch hazel and the AQ Ice Blue aftershave. I have to say that my dome looks great. Take care.
