Sunday shave, July 7th 2024

Razor : Yaqi Excalibur with a Yaqi 316 SSP handle. Mfg 2021>, tame mid range. Simple blade clamping, great affordable SE /ac type razor, not as refined as the Yaqi Romulus 316SSP but still worthy of decent shave. Had a close comfortable shave this morning.
Blade : Schick proline (3) sharp and smooth with reasonable longevity.
Soap : Ogallala Bayrum sage and Cedarwood, nice Bayrum soap with challenging lather at times with excellent lather qualities.
Brush : Yaqi "Deep stones" 24 mm boss synthetic knot. Excellent lather generator, cloud like soft tips, nice splay scrubber + excellent lather painter. Interesting brush but not my favorite for looks but still a decent brush for my shaving needs.
Pre shave : (Dedicated Cashmere synthetic)Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser with a dollop of clear Aloe Vera on the cleaned beard area.
Prep : Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG + ATG + pickups.
Post shave : Ogallala Bayrum sandalwood splash + a dollop of CeraVe moisturizing lotion(scentless).
Results : or CCS,DFS,BBs + no irritation + no weepers= Had a close comfortable shave this morning with my Yaqi Excalibur SE with a Schick proline blade.

PRE-SHAVE; Face brush-washed with Van der Hagen Unscented Luxury soap
RAZOR: Gillette Slim Adjustable, setting 6
BLADE: Tatra Platinum, shave 5
SOAP: During brush-washing, the VdH soap exploded into perfect lather. So I just left it on and shaved.
BRUSH: RazoRock Snowman
POST-SHAVE: Barbasol Brisk ASL

I had planned on using yesterday's Barbasol Cool Menthol setup for today's shave. However, the ambient temperature, humidity, water hardness, pH, barometric pressure, and moon phase must have all been just right today, as the VdH soap to erupted into simply decadent lather while I was brush-washing with it. This soap rarely yields truly great lather when I'm setting up to actually shave with it, so I gratefully accepted this unexpected gift and shaved with the VdH instead of Barbasol.

With the Slim opened up to setting 6, the Tatra delivered a truly BBS shave today with buttery smoothness, and just the slightest dragging going ATG on my chin. The Barbasol Brisk ASL bit a little upon application but calmed right down and felt wonderful moments later.

All in all, a delightful and memorable shave today. I'm finally at the point again where my DE shaves are just as good as my best electric shaves. I might open the Slim up to setting 7 for tomorrow's shave, which I've never before dared to do.

That Lemon Chill soap and ASL look like prime candidates to replace my Foamy Lemon-Lime cream and daylogic Arctic Blue ASL when I finally run out of them. How's the menthol, and how long does the ASL fragrance linger?

 

the scent and chill effect last for a fair amount of time.the scent is straight lemon..

Man, this was such a sweet shave. First shave with the Jayaruh #454. The Schick 66 was awesome.

The PSC Caffeinated Shaving Cream lathered well with the Jayaruh #454 Two-band Badger Brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Schick 66 G-4 Injector razor and the Personna Injector Blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with PSC Caffeinated After Shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
