Thursday morning’s Grand Freeze:

L’Oréal Men Expert Facial Wash

Noble Otter Northern Elixir AS Splash

These new Glacial soaps are all FABULOUS - all of them. The Mango Sunrise’s scent is lovely - along with the mango I detect some other notes such as papaya, coconut as well as a bit of musk. It lathers so beautifully, it’s loaded with frigidly cold menthol, and it has the typically great Stirling postshave care. The Gold Bond moisturizer works so well as a balm, and the Northern Elixir aftershave from Noble Otter has a mild scent of peppermint and eucalyptus with a strong menthol kick. These 7 AM blades seem to be sort of inconsistent in terms of quality - some of them are excellent and others are crummy. This new one helped me get a most enjoyable three pass BBS shave so no complaints whatsoever.

Razor : Razorock Game changer.84 316 SSP with a RR Radio knob handle 316 SSP. Mfg 2018, mild to tame mid range IMO. I like to use a Kai SS extra wide blade to give me a little more blade feel I enjoy. This razor with this blade performs well and easy to get a close comfortable shave like this morning.
Blade : Kai SS (5) sharp and smooth with excellent longevity. Top tier and will give a nice notch up in mild razors.
Soap : Cyril R Salter(CRS) wild rose cream. Nice rose scent that has some excellent lather qualities.
Brush : Yaqi" artic sky" 24 mm synthetic. Excellent lather generator, heavenly cloud like soft tips, gentle splay scrubber + excellent lather painter. Very nice handle with a soft knob.
Pre shave : (Dedicated Cashmere synthetic)Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser with a dollop of clear Aloe Vera on the cleaned beard area.
Prep : Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG + ATG + pickups.
Post shave : Razorock(Italian Barber) Amici with witch hazel + a dollop of CeraVe moisturizing lotion(scentless).
Results : or CCS,DFS,BBs + no irritation + 1 blemish weeper = Had a close comfortable shave this morning with my RR GC.84 with a Perma-sharp blade.

Fragrance-Free Setup
Pre-Shave: Warm shower; face washed with activated charcoal soap
Razor: Gillette Slim, setting 9
Blade: Tatra Platinum, shave 9
Soap: Van der Hagen Unscented Luxury
Brush: RazoRock Snowman synthetic
Post-Shave: None

Had dinner with a dear friend who's ultra-sensitive to fragrances, so I used unscented bath soap, shampoo, deodourant, and shaving soap today. We dined at an outdoor courtyard that was resplendent with the wonderful aroma of flowers blooming all around us, so it was just as well that I had gone fragrance-neutral today.

Thought I had turned the Slim down from setting 8 to 7 yesterday, but didn't bother to don my reading glasses to double-check. Turned out that I was shaving yesterday and today on setting 9, not 7, which is the most aggressive setting on the Slim. No worries--the Tatra's 9th outing was another smooth, no-fuss, BBS affair with no problems of any kind.

My VdH soap pucks reside in small sugar dishes with lids, as shown. The VdH soap face-lathered to perfection today and left my face feeling quite good post-shave, so I didn't use an aftershave. I do have some unscented Thayer's for fragrance-free occasions like today.

That Boris soap really caught my eye. Alas, it was a limited-edition run and no longer on offer from Alien Shave.

If Alien Shave ever brings out a companion Snidely Whiplash soap and after shave lotion, I'm buyin'...

 

I've seen some truly intriguing soaps presented here on SoS lately, but your description of the Glacial Mango Sunrise puts it at the top of the list of soaps I want to try next...
