Thanks Chris. Shaving wisdom dictates that 100 shaves are necessary to become pretty good with a straight or shavette. I have a lot of practice using both during the almost six years of wetshaving. However, I am still open to learning new things concerning shaving. Thank goodness that I don't get bored with shaving like in the past.

Terrific shave, setup and post Chris. I always wanted a cleft chin, but I didn't realize that shaving with one would be challenging. I guess that I should be grateful for my smooth chin.

A much better shave today, thanks in large part to the A.S. switch to the cooler Clubman Gent's Gin. Maybe I'll try Stephan B.R. in the fall. Course we know it's great for winter. Anyway-another great lathering job with the glacial Stoylin. Certainly helped with the "paint job" on the face and neck. Things didn't go so well at the beginning of the shave, as a couple Knicks developed, along Porcupine, during the first pass. Painless, but present. Good job everywhere else. As I had hoped, the cold-wateer rinse and Clubman A.S. knocked them out. Mr. Cawtuh was smart with his reference to a "bullpen"-it can save a shave in the end(or ruin it, of course, but the former is better). "Unnamed" cologne to finish off. Very Outstanding.

Prep = Hot water prep
Preshave = PR Cypress and Vetyver
Soap = TOBS Oud with glycerine
Brush = The Vulfix. Soft, but easy to clean, rinse and dries quicker than the Chubby 2
Bowl = Timeless
Razor = Gillette exec @ 6, then @4, then @9
Blade = Permasharp (3), still doing alright
Passes = 2 ++. ATG where needed. Back of neck @4
Post = Usual CWR, Alum, Cold Water Rinse, pat dry, Thayers
Post care = TOBS Royal Forest lotion
ASL = PR Green Rinfrescante
Scent = Santal Spirit

Damage = Fair bit of Alum feedback especially the adam’s apple apple area and both side of the neck, but no damage

‘nother super shave, super smooth all over, BBS in most areas
Love the Exec, I will keep this in my rotation, but will give it another clean and park it for a while

Quick Question: best oil/lubrication for the adjustable razors? Up to now I have just used baby oil after acquisition/clean up/sanitation of new acquisitions. I am thinking of using Singer sewing machine oil. My wife doesn’t think this is a good idea in case of skin contact…

Any suggestions? Any old oil?

Unfortunately my own cleft is not the archetypical Hollywood hero type, more of a deep recess between the chin and where the lower lip ends. Still figuring out the best to get in there without too much damge.

Terrific shave Chris. Baby oil is really scented mineral oil and mineral oil is very good to use on any razor. I use mineral oil to protect my carbon steel straights from rusting.

sewing machine oil..a bit down the center hole below where the blade goes.rinse out any extra in the blade tray.sewing machine oil is just mineral oil.. or it wouldn't be safe to get on clothes..

Lather: Goodfellas' Smile Abysso Shaving Soap.
Blade: Feather Hi Stainless. (D1)
Razor: 1940's Thin Handle Gillette Flat Bottom Tech. (ENG)

Post:

A new shave set up to start the weekend. After the fantastic shaves that I've had from the Feather Hi Stainless I will continue to use them for another week.
The Goodfellas' Smile Abysso Shaving Soap & matching ASL which are both excellent. The slickness and post shave feel from the soap is superb.

Another close comfortable efficient combined face & head shave with no errors to report.

Finishing the shave off with a few small dollops of Nivea Men Replenishing PSB.

My face & precious swede are feeling smooth and smelling divine.

Changing gears a bit

Days growth = 1
Prep = Hot water prep
Preshave = PR Cypress and Vetyver
Soap = Tabac (tub)
Brush = Pura Setola
Bowl = Timeless
Razor = Rocket HD, (first whirl with this recently acquired HD backup)
Blade = Permasharp (1)
Passes = 3 +
Post = Usual CWR, Alum, Cold water rinse, pat dry, Thayers,
Post care = Tabac after shave balm
ASL = Tabac ASL, pure delight
Score = 9+ /10
Damage = none

Happy to have a backup of this fine razor, really good condition
It did just fine as expected on the 1st pass
However 2nd and 3rd passes and much buffing were needed to get a decent clean-up
For the 2nd pass I loosened to TTO knob a bit to see if I could get some bite from the blade. Seems to work OK but the cap/baseplate “grip” on the blade are not constant, so I guess I prefer the way the adjustables allow me to do this
