Razor : Yaqi Romulus SE 316 SSP + a Yaqi Chippendale 313 SSP. Mfg 2023>, mild to tame mid range depending on blade or shim used. Excellent machining and finish + design QC. Small head parts make for a nimble shave that I find very enjoyable. Had a close comfortable stellar shave this morning.
Blade : Kai Captain titian mild(10) sharp and smooth with reasonable longevity. The best 50mm AC I have ever used with this razor.
Soap : Gillette Pure cream, nice clean scented soap with excellent lather qualities. Makes excellent ubber lather with remnants of other soaps also.
Brush : Yaqi "Moka express" 24mm synthetic. Excellent lather generator, luxury cloud like soft tips, gentle splay scrubber + excellent lather painter.
Pre shave : (Dedicated Cashmere synthetic)Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser with a dollop of clear Aloe Vera on the cleaned beard area.
Prep : Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG + ATG + pickups.
Post shave : Ach Brito Lavanda with witch hazel + a dollop of CeraVe moisturizing lotion(scentless).
Results : Dial 10.jpg or CCS,DFS,BBs + no irritation + no weepers=[IMG] Had a close comfortable shave this morning with my Yaqi Romulus SE AC type with a Kai Captain titian mild blade.

Schick Golden 500 with a minty fresh Eversharp blade
Nylon brush & mystery soap (no idea what)

Three days growth gone quickly, one pass gave me DFS, good enough. Excellent blade, I almost couldn't tell it 70 years old.

Home made BR and Agua Brava, and they sure do complement each other very well.

Gave myself a nasty nick on my chin Monday. Goin' eSOTD while it heals up...
Face brush-washed with Van der Hagen Natural brush and Stirling Mentholated Shave Soap
    Face air-dried while I took a shower
Pinaud Clubman talc as pre-shave, applied with RazoRock Snowman brush
    Remington XLR-800 shaver
    ShaverAid foil (aftermarket)
Remington SP-42 cutter (aftermarket cutters are available)
50/50 blend Barbasol Brisk/Vi-Jon "Brut" with a dash of Clubman VIBR

METHODOLOGY: Up and down and 'round and 'round with ultra-light-pressure ATG passes at the end.
SHAVE CLOSENESS: Excellent. Just barely missed being BBS
SHAVE COMFORT: Excellent. The ShaverAid foil doesn't heat up as much as the Remington SP-40 foil.
    NICKS/IRRITATION: None
SHAVE LONGEVITY: Very good. Shave looked presentable 10 hours later, but felt a bit scratchy
FRAGRANCE LONGEVITY: The 50/50 ASL blend faded away in about 20 minutes, followed by the Stirling soap fragrance in about 90 minutes...leaving only the Clubman, which hung in there for about three hours. Very pleasant!
OVERALL: I'm glad I have good electric setups at the ready for when I butcher my face. The brush action, Stirling soap, and Clubman talc make it nearly as satisfying and luxurious as DE shaving.
COMMENTS: The Stirling Mentholated Pre-Shave soap is really marvelous stuff, even for electric shaving. My shavers just glide right along, and my face is so soft and smooth afterward, I really don't need aftershave lotion.

Thank you for your excellent post. I've been casually eyeing electric shavers the last few months, just to have one on hand for situations when it would be the best option. Remington and Braun have caught my attention the most.

    Greetings,

    (Face & Head Shave)

A new shave set up to start the weekend.

The last few weeks I've been using the Feather Hi Stainless, which have paired up superbly with all my razors. I've revisited the Gillette Nacet blade for the last remaining days of July to get a comparison with the Feather Hi Stainless.

What I like about the Gillette Nacet blade is the smoothness and efficiency of them. The Feather instantly wins for it's Sharpness, but the Gillette Nacet feels smoother, which is something I prefer in a blade over sharpness.

Another close comfortable efficient combined face & head shave with no errors to report.

Finishing the shave off with a few small dollops of Bulldog Original Moisturiser.

My face & precious swede are feeling smooth and smelling divine.;)

Stay safe, and enjoy the start of the weekend ladies & gentlemen.

Thanks for the kind words! If you haven't noticed already from my eSOTD posts, getting the very best shave from an electric requires at least the same attention to detail as getting a good shave using traditional methods.

Generally speaking, a Braun will shave a little closer than a Remington sold at the same price point, but the Remington will likely require less expensive replacement foils and cutters, making it more economical to operate. Honestly, though, you shouldn't invest in electric shaving if your prime consideration is economy.

Also, consider carefully how you're going to deploy an electric shaver. You have little to no chance of getting a really good shave from a foil system dry shaver if your face isn't absolutely clean and dry. Many foil shavers struggle with whiskers that have grown beyond two days. With a rotary, though, it's not as critical; if you need a quick touch-up shave after a long day at work, the rotary will likely do a good-enough job even if you don't prep your face beforehand. My Philips rotary will mow down a three-day-old beard with no trouble at all. But, rotaries require a more frequent and time-consuming cleaning routine than a foil shaver.
