Gillette Fatboy / Polsilver Super Iridium

Coming back after a several weeks lull.... vacation then an offsite project.

Used the following vintage Gillettes in that time:

- 1962 Slim. Mixed feelings... even though I used it for about two weeks straight, I keep getting rough shaves with it every now and then. I have its brother (same year) and the shaves don't seem too different... so either both are borked (unlikely) or I haven't really mastered them yet.

- 1972 Black Beauty (Super 84). I find that razor to be more efficient in my hands - not sure how much of it is the difference in head design or the fact that the combination of a shorter lighter handle and roughly the same head makes a marked difference in handling.

- "Pre-War" Tech. Paired with a well used GSB, it's a bliss. Close, smooth, clean shaves day in and day out. The best feeling / handling of any 3 piece Gillettes that I ever used (that "fat" handle was a whole lot better than the newer ball end one and I have no idea why Gillette decided to switch). However, with a fresh blade it requires some attention as it's a fairly aggressive razor as far as vintage Gillettes go.

 

slims with a sharp blade are efficient razors but not that smooth imo,they lack soul.compromise in the design?the black beauty has more agressive settings than the slim and feel more efficient. vintage techs are my favorite daily shavers

I sort of do not get people buying what I call modern high priced Razor when Vintage stuff is reasonablepriced, with good blade shave beard will. JMHO
