I agree with you because I have similar experiences in maintaining my straights.

It's really not so bad as long as you have enough straights so that it would be awhile before you need to sharpen or refresh one. Also, having other types or razors helps prolong the need to sharpen straights.

    Oh well another repeat shave
Day 7 of Arko/TOBS Aloe Vera, Pura Setola
Merkur Progress set on 4 with Astra Platinum (2) still very good
    Thayers and Old Spice
Super smooth once again but it did need 3 passes
    No damage
    No Nivea Balm
    Santal Spirit Sandalwood
    Very satisfying result

Have a super day one and all

Like @ChrisB, I repeated my shave today, coming back with Team Proraso Refreshing. It's a classic combinatiion, no doubt there. I'm finding that with these old-school foams that come out at first looking like a squiggly snake, eventually you get the cloud formation. That's an August focus for me(which should be an ALL YEAR focus)....the more the merrier with foams. Clean and clear all around....one pass. Good work with the Proraso A.S. Closed out with One Man Show cologne. I feel good and ready for Wednesday. As Outstanding As It Gets.

    Good morning.

    Shavette shave #568
    Parker SRS
    Derby 1/2 DE Blade (fresh)
    Barbury Synthetic Brush
Captain's Choice 45th Parallel SC and AS
    Stirling Alum Block
    Personal Care Witch Hazel
    Beard Growth: 36 hrs.

I went with the Parker SRS which is made of stainless steel and much heavier than my Parker SRB shavette. I decided to only go with 2 passes instead of three and still got an error-free close comfortable shave. Some would consider it BBS, but I felt some stragglers on my neck and I just didn't feel the need to do a third pass because I look freshly clean shaven.
Picked the Captain's Choice 45th Parallel Shave Cream because it is easy to lather and with a small amount produces an abundance of slick, creamy lather. Here's my lather:

Had some alum feedback on my neck, but it wasn't bad. Splashed on the witch hazel and the matching aftershave and I am good to go. Take care.

I like the colour of your Simpson's brush handle. Mine is the very traditional ivory colour. Same great knot though.
