I had that Clubman shave soap once-found it tricky to get a brush inside the thing to swirl around. I found another Clubman-like soap, which I plan to buy later in the year...larger than the 2 oz. Clubman. It's from Mama Bear Soaps.

 

Chuckle. You are right Paul. It's a small container. Two options: use a smaller brush, squeezing the bristles together just below the knot, or just scoop some into a shaving bowl. It's a good size for travelling with though.

 

Thanks-I have a lot of time to mull over what to do, as I have a puck of barbershop-style soap for now, from Razorock/Italian Barber. . Course I use Clubman for aftershave with such soaps. It's on my Can't Be Without This list.

I decided to shave at this late hour because I have busy schedule tomorrow. Anyway, I decided to only 2 passes this session. I wasn't going for the BBS and was quite satisfied with a DFS. However, did get a cheek weep because this razor needs to be honed. Anyway. I have set this razor aside to hone it this weekend.
TSD soap gave me a nice lather. Here it is:



Surprisingly, I had minimal alum feedback. Finished the shave in my usual way. Take care.

Cold wet flannel to my face.
Cien PURE Fragrance Free Sensitive Bar Soap.
Brush: Fine 24mm Synthetic.
Face Lather.
Lather: HWF Lanolin Shaving Soap. (no.3)
Blade: Treet Dura Sharp (Carbon) Blue pack. (D2)
Razor: 1960's Gillette Slim Twist.

A comfortable 2 pass + pick ups silky smooth shave with no errors to report from my much loved Gillette Slim Twist to finish my shaving week off on a high note.

Finishing the shave off with a few small dollops of Creightons Sensitive PSB.

My face is feeling cool smooth & smelling divine.

An early evening shave for me. 7 PM
Early flight tomorrow

Hot water prep
Preshave: palmolive
Soap: pinaud
Razor: Slim @6 then @5 then @4 trying to find the sweet spot
Blade: Shark again. Not so smooth today. Binned
Passes: 3 passes were needed today for a decent shave
Post: tap water rinse (can't call it cold I am afraid)

Not as good a shave as the last two times, despite the same setup
Was it the blade?
Was it because it was later in the day?
Or because of 36 hours growth?

It was a tentative shave, because of the heat and humidity here, the face was rather flushed and maybe a bit red from the last few day's activities
I suppose it all adds up.
Anyway I am glad to have had an interesting week of shaving with no blood-letting while away from home

A great Throwback Thusday shave, which always makes me proud. One thing that I must credit as a big helper is the shave prep in the shower. Dial gives you a thicker product that others...the more the merrier I always say. About 0:40 at the Loading Dock-lots of soap onto the Stoylin brush. A clean and clear shave all over. Zero cuts, Knicks, Polka-dots. I went softer with the razor, which I think also helped. I should have made this shave into a Proraso video!! Let's see if I can do a repeat perfomance tomorrow(with same arsenal). 2 passes. I went to the Loading Dock again before the second pass. Not for 0:40 though, a bit less. As Outstanding As It Gets.
