I just switched to DE shaving in the last few months from the multi-blade expense. I tried every multi-blade every time it came out looking for the better shave. I still have the handles from my first Atra, Sensor, Sensor Excel, Mach 3, Mach 3 Turbo, Fusion and Fusion power. I should make a display. I have been using a shaving brush and soap for many years having purchased my first brush from Caswell-Massey back in 1989. It served me well for many years, but I didn't care for it as well as I could have and it is now retired. Anyway, I purchased a 1963 Gillette adjustable from eBay. I got a blade sample pack from razor and brush.com. I am now working my way through the sample pack to find the blade that best suits my razor and my skin and beard. I got my first tub of shaving cream for Christmas. It is bath junkies brand with green tea scent. I am thoroughly enjoying it. I had no idea shaving cream could be so much better than soap, because I think I was using some good soaps. I am looking forward to the discussions on this forum.
Welcome to TSD. If you're looking to experiment w/ creams might I suggest Taylor of Old Bond Street (TOBS). Fantastic cream w/ some great old world scents. Reasonably priced at about $14 a tub. Should last you 6 mos. or more. Great stuff. The best cream in my rotation by far. Again, welcome.
Welcome to the TSD from one Houston area member to another. I haven't been there myself yet, but you can actually get a badger brush (Vulfix and Edwin Jagger) and some of the good high end soaps and creams (Trumper, TOBS, and C&E to name a few) at a store called The British Isles on Rice Blvd. Welcome again!
