  8. Wednesday Aug 21 (very early morning) - Anything Goes August

    Prep: Hot face rinse

Razor: Supply 2.0 matte black stainless steel injector w/ SE "nickproof" comb plate / Japanese-made Supply Black Label (3)

    Soap: Stirling Iced Pineapple

Brush: Simpson's Chubby 2 Synthetic Bristle

    Lather Bowl: None

Post: rinse, alum, rinse, Stirling Iced Pineapple splash

Last shave: Saturday evening - 3.5 days

The setup (identical to last four shaves):

    IMG_20240802_084520_9_kindlephoto-130392029.jpg

The result: decent despite the blade

I did one pass WTG. That left me acceptably cleanshaven.

The Supply Black Label injector blade, on its third use, felt very sharp but still quite rough just like last shave. I remember it being smooth during its first use back in May, so I wonder if something happened to it in the intervening time. Anyway, I ended the shave after one pass and dumped the blade in the blade bank. Alum felt a bit warm overall but no areas where it really stung and no nicks, blood spots or visible razorburn.

The splash at least provided a good ending to the shave.

So a fresh blade and I hope a more pleasant shave next time...

  9. Nice setup and shave John. It have been a bad blade. Have you used this brand of blade before and did it have a much more uses. I would think one would get a higher number of uses for an SE blade.
  10. 21 Aug 2024

I decided to stick with this setup a bit longer, since it works so well for me
Schick SE on day 4 was still good, as expected
Two smooth multidirectional passes, minimal touch ups needed for a DFS pre work shave
Despite very light pressure the closeness of the shave was felt as distinct exfoliation and some roughness at the time of rinsing, but no blood was lost and the Alum didn’t provide any feedback

Because of the closeness of the shave and because this was day 2 of the SE in succession, I did add some TOBS Royal Forest balm to provide some extra skin care prior to using the ASL (Old Spice)

Scent was Jo Malone Velvet Rose and Oud, loaded up for the day Lol!

    Have a great Wednesday lads
  11. Thanks Joe, worth a try. I will soon finish my Proraso preshave (Vetyver) and will stick with using my creams as a pre shave after that. At some stage I will use the creams on their own and see if that will be as successful and more economical

Don't mind the Arko soap, except it does require some attention to skin care afterwards, having said that I wouldn't want to stick with just Arko for the rest of my days

    Thanks Gary

Really regal setup, Gary nice looking bottle too. Go easy on the Royal Copenhagen
    ;)
Lovely shave Joe, Can't see the Seaforth around here anywhere, but will keep this in mind should I be in the market for more soaps

    Thanks Joe

Good going there John, could a SE blade go "off" after sitting around for a few months? Been wondering that, since I have a few in my other SE razors sitting on the shelf

    SRS # 1152

    Rating: 5 / 5

    Razor: Tuckmarr 5/8” Maccassar scales
Brush: Wolf Whiskers 24 mm Maggard Tux Synthetic
    Pre-Shave: Pears Transparent Soap
    Lather: Tim’s Soap Busta’s Blend
    Aftershave: Pinuad Citrus Musk
    Additional Care:
    Omega Alum
    Dickenson’s Original Witch Hazel
    Stirling Unscented Glacial Balm

Fabulous shave this morning following a nice warm shower. Perfectly cool this morning, about 56 F degrees, for an outdoor X3 Bar Lower Body workout.

The Tuckmarr straight, which is exceptionally sharp, easily delivered a smooth error free shave. The post alum report was basically nonexistent. The Pinaud Cotrus Musk pairs well with the Lemongrass in Tim’s Soap. Too bad this artisan is no longer producing his products.

Hope you all have a great day.

    Good afternoon

    Shavette Shave #571
    Magic by Master Barber
Derby Pro 1/2 DE Blade (fresh)
    MrEE LE #10 Cashmere Brush
Angora Soaps Midnight Lavender SS and AS
    Stirling Alum Block
    Personal Care Witch Hazel
    Beard Growth: 30 hrs.

I went with a shavette shave. I only needed 2 passes for a BBS shave. Unfortunately, I nicked the middle ear because I was careless. I wasn't mindful of the corner edge of the blade was exposed and thus I accidentally poked my ear. Anyway, a nice lather was achieved with Angora Soaps Midnight Lavender. Here's my lather:

Alum had minimal feedback. Splashed on the witch hazel and the matching aftershave. Man, did I get a nice burn. Take care.
