    I tried Stirling Glastonbury a few years back. It took me awhile to like the scent. Personally, it smelled like Downey Fabric Softener. It had the mutton tallow, but I didn't notice any appreciable difference with the beef tallow.

    Greetings,

    (Face & Head Shave)

    A wonderful performance from the Ever-Ready 1914.

    I have repeated myself in many of my postings by saying if I had known how wonderful smooth, & efficient SE razors where especially Injector razors when i first ventured into the wonderful world of traditional wet shaving I probably wouldn't have bought a DE razor as they provide and give everything that is required for a close comfortable shave.

    Another close comfortable face & head shave with no errors to report.

    Finishing the shave off with a few small dollops of Creightons Sensitive PSB.

    My face & precious swede are feeling smooth and smelling divine.;)

    Stay safe, and enjoy the start of the weekend ladies & gentlemen.:cool:

    I agree, 3 or 4 max for me on a DE, but still looking the better ones! I am sceptical about those longevity claims....but that's just me

    Thanks Gary, time for a SE september shave, give those Gillettes a bit of breather!

    Truely great looking setup and shave

    Thanks Joe, I am up to 7 so far....

    Something of interest for you Chris.
    575 shaves from one Gillette Nacet blade! That's some longevity. Have quick browse at his postings and see how many shaves his had from just one blade.I like his approach to wet shaving too. I've been tempted to give it a try, but having such a vast amount of DE blades I would have enough blades to last me six life times and more...Maybe we are all to eager to discard blades, including myself that can still be used. However, I feel the UK is turning into an "Orwellian 1984 Dystopian world" at the moment, and Razor blades may become a rarity with all the madness that is happening in the world at this present moment in time and each DE blade will have to last use for 575 shaves. We'll have the "Blade-police" checking up on use for "5'Oclock shadows" & DE blade wastage misconduct, sentencing us to use a "Bic Disposable razor" has punishment for the rest of our shaving days ;)..Maybe Eric Arthur Blair, AKA George Orwell had a point. Sample soap, Slant, Sterling soap, Satsuma, Semogue OC, Vintage Schick Ultra Platinium Blade (made in Holland, (weird))

    2 Days growth

    07 Sep 2024 .jpg

    Usual Prep and Preshave = Faulding’s shave cream
    Cream/Soap = Sterling Satsuma
    Brush = Semogue Owners club
    Bowl = Timeless
    Razor = Merkur 37C Slant
    Blade = Vintage Schick Ultra (1) smooth
    Passes = 3+
    Post = Usual CWR, Alum, rinse, pat dry, Thayers rose petal
    ASL = Imperial Leather (mild meaning lots and lots could be used)
    Scent = Jo Malone Velvet Rose & Oud
    Score = 9.9 / 10
    Highly enjoyable Saturday shave, super duper outstanding
    Damage = what damage?

    The Schick blade is smooth, rather than sharp, and felt like many of my blades feel on day 2. Of course all blades are sharp, but this one never felt like causing any facial damage. The Slant doesn’t quite get as close as the OC razors or the few SE that I own but does feel safe. Of course being a slant means nothing, since intra-pass Gillette sliding and multidirectional strokes can still be done

    Keen to see what this Schick blade does in a different razor next time

    The Satsuma is hanging in there, the hole in the doughnut is getting bigger, I thought I would finish this today, but no! I guess this has a few more shaves left in it. It’s takes a while to finish these sample sizes, almost no point in getting the full size tubs, although I do have a few, this would take much longer

    Have a super first Saturday of September to one and all

    Impressed, I couldn't go that long with anything, never mind a blade, when it gets tuggy I want nothing more to do with it
    Sheesh, he has quite a videos up

    Lol! Well put. Yes indeed 1984 was a depressing read, a bit unnerving, not because it seemed ridiculous, but perhaps because it seems uneasily close to where we are

    Blade police? or worse: beards would be compulsory!

    HG Wells also had an interesting take on things to come, but much more fun reading than Orwell anyway

    Have a great weekend Barry

    Great shave from Proraso this morning. I wish my Rise could come out with more strength, like the Proraso does(course the early Rises I had did, and maybe with patience, my current one will too). Clean and clear all over. Zero cuts, Knicks, Polka-dots. I'll happily add Proraso Refreshing Foam&A.S. to my "I Can't Be Without This" list, as well as the Refreshing shave soap. One pass. Nice work with the aforementioned A.S. Closed out with Halston cologne. As Outstanding As It Gets.

    Wonderful pic, setup and shave Barry. Williams ìs definitely a slick soap. My only criticism is that it dissipated due to my hard water.
