The Vintage Life Morning TOST Shave Soap lathered well with the Semogue 1305 boar brush. Two passes and touch ups with the 1914 Gillette Pocket Edition Razor and the Gillette Super Blue Blade X3 gave me a close, comfortable shave. This if the fifth day this week using this razor/blade combination. It weighs in at 2.1 oz with the blade and has a very nice feel in the hand. The razor is 110 years old and the blade is 62 years old. They have been absolutely marvelous shaves.

The 72 year old carbon blade continues to perform very well on its third shave, maintaining both its smoothness and sharpness.

Paired with the razor that was most likely made at least 83 years ago, it produced a very close yet comfortable shave, right there with the best shaves I ever had using modern blades and razors.

I will definitely take to more than five days. It is still plenty sharp. I may even strop it with my Twinplex stropper.

    Menthol Monday's Cold Water Shave

    Cold Water Rinse
    PSC Caffeinated Shaving Cream
    Semogue Owners Club Boar
    1905 Gillette Double Ring
Gillette Super Blue Blade X3 (6)
    Cold Water Rinse
    PSC Caffeinated After Shave

I am continuing this week with the Gillette Super Blue Blade from 1952. Today is the sixth shave with it. As long as it is shaving good, I will use it. Then I will strop it with my Twinplex Stropper. Here we go with the 72 year old blade and the 119 year old razor.

The PSC Caffeinated Shaving Cream lathered well with the Semogue Owners Club Boar brush. Two passes and touch ups with the 1905 Gillette Double Ring Razor and the Gillette Super Blue Blade X3 gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with PSC Caffeinated After Shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

    1966 (L-3) Superspeed
    Feather (2)
The House of Mammoth Kryptonite soap
    B+M Cool Splash

This is my birth year / quarter razor that was just delivered yesterday.
As any Superspeed I ever used, it's both mild and efficient. Also in very good shape, save for a few micro scratches.
One of these days, I'll do a shave-off between this razor and my 1956 Superspeed to see if there's any perceptible difference. The older version has a taller head profile. I believe Gillette changed to the slimmer head design in 1962 when they launched Slim Adjustable.

To date, I've used 40's style Superspeeds, flare tip Superspeeds, pre-war Tech, post-war Tech, Slims, Super 84 and 109 adjustables, and New LC. Out of all these razors, I think flare tip Superspeeds represent the pinnacle of razor design. Mild, efficient, easy to load, not very sensitive to shaving angle, built like tanks, well balanced, a great choice for both a novice and experienced wet shaver.
