Reminds me of an embarassing exchange I had with 3 Korean-Americans back when I was volunteering for Traveler's Aid Socity in DC(a job I loved). They came up and asked me for a map of the city's public transportation system. I asked if they wanted Japanese or Chinese. That is when they said they were Korean-Americans. Boy, am I glad they accepted my apology! (Course at the time I didn't know they were Korean).
It's been three weeks and the swelling is gone and I walking without pain. I am doing very light exercise and lots of walking. One more week and I cant resume my regular workouts but at a much lighter load.
Pre Covid we had a reward trip to Japan for our company. I can only say a few things in Japanese, hello, good morning excuse me etc. I also know how to ask are you really Japanese. My colleagues kept asking to stop asking people if there were Japanese. When we checked in for our return flight the woman spoke to me in perfect Korean and English so I asked her in Japanese if she is really Japanese. Everyone groaned but she asked why I asked her, I told her because her Korean and English were perfect. She was thrilled and gave me extra passes to the business class lounge.
We've had the opportunity to travel a bit, and it is fun to interact and learn from people in other cultures. I think it is OK to be curious and just be yourself as long as you respect others and treat them kindly. In fact, it makes for some of the most memorable and genuine experiences. This is what you both did here. Note to self: shower the airport staff with extra compliments to get free tickets to the business class lounge.
Time for variety and to find the next 3017 target. I enjoy the stank and performance of Steam Punk, definitely a contender for the next 3017. I will definitely replace this one as enjoy it and can buy from a Korean vendor. I like Route 66 and I am a big fan of Green Irish Tweet dupes but... the performance of the soap is not a par with Steam Punk so this will not make the next 3017.
I ave been searching for more Steam Punk, but I can't find it at a US retailer. Check this tracking for a brush I just purchased:
Saturday, September 21 Tabac~~Rubberset 400/3~~Wolfman WR2 .74 Ti/Voskhod~~Vintage Tabac Extreme First shave since Wednesday. Primo was scruffy. Now, Primo smooth. Stankin' good too.
Some Variety before I select the next target. In that beatiful bowl is Sterling Electric Sheep, good stuff and doubles as bug repelant. Now that the weather is breaking and hopfully the hot humid days are behind me so this one will likely not be the next target. Cella is good soap but I don't think I can take the marzipan scent day in and day out. Strange Primo can't find Steam Punk but we have it hear in Korea. This is definalty in the running for the next 3017 target. The appropriately named Awesom Sauce is also in contention to be the next 3017 victim. It is a dupe for Proraso which I use often as an aftershave.
Sunday, September 22 ETHOS Bay Rum~~Plisson 16~~Wolfman WR2 .74 Ti/Voskhod~~Thor's Hammer Bay Rum w/Lime No 3017, but a nice shave. I am dealing with a shedder in this Plisson. Just wrote the seller... Curious as to what his response will be. I once sold a brush to a TSD member. Turned out to also be a shedder. I couldn't get him his money back fast enough. But that's just me.
Plisson Update: This was seller's response: "No way I'm completely shocked to hear that mate that brush has hardly been used only a few times so give it time I got this brush directly from plisson and iv never had any issues with there brushes so it should be fine. I would never sell a brush to someone if there was any issues with it, I did a last shave with it before I posted it for sale and it was completely fine." I am SOL, because I left him PF on the BST site. I won't mention his name. If you want to know to protect yourself, PM me.
You've certainly had some type of luck on the BSTs. I am afraid you're correct and he will not refund the money. I would much rather be on the loosing side of trade than walk away felling I had cheated someone. But that is just me.
You're correct, I have had some ups and downs, but I am not discouraged. The vast majority of the shavers, with whom I have made transactions, have been 100% A-1. Besides---Life's is too short. Picked up another Rooney Silvertip Badger Today at an OUTSTANDING price.
Wow, it's a beauty, Joseph! Congrats! Sorry to hear about your experience with the Plisson. That is a shame.
Congrats on a beautiful brush Joseph. Like you the majority of people I have dealt with have been wonderful. Great job not letting the few bad actors spoil the fun.
