    Sunday

    Treet DE Razor
    Astra day 2
    Omega Boar Brush
    Pirates Cove Lime Soap
    Thayers Rose Witch Hazel
    Tabac After Shave

The Treet is a 2 piece mostly plastic razor with a metal rod going through the handle. Well made for an inexpensive shaver. The Astra blade is an excellent smooth and sharp blade.

    Sunday:

    Omega Silvertip
    Lord Super/7 AM day 2
Mama Bear Lavender/Peppermint sample shaving stick
    Arko Commando A/S gel
    Lubriderm unscented moisturizer
Batsheva cologne (from Israel) :drool :drool :drool

This Mama Bear stick is very, very cooling, and lathers good, but it is a bit irritating. The Arko gel killed the irritation fast, and now, my skin feels super-cool and nice! Batsheva cologne is a real lady magnet--my wife's friend made a pass at me one night when I was wearing it! ;) :D :happy102

Too bad the Sharp Stainless will only give me 2 shaves cuz my face likes those blades.

Schick Injector, M3 Adjustable, set at 4
    Schick German blade, day 1
    T&H shave soap
    Col. Conk pure badger brush
    witch hazel
    shower

Christmas continued for me yesterday, I got a package from a friend in Bowling Green, KY. She had to move there to keep her job, kind of hard on a relationship, but the job market in Michigan is dying a slow death, so I'm glad she had a chance to get out.

She was in Florida visiting relatives, and found this stuff in an old barber shop. I got a nice Old Spice mug, circa mid 80's, a Col. Conk long handled pure badger brush, and a puck of shave soap that just says 'Truefitt and Hill' on it. I don't know what the scent is, it just smells like a good bath soap. It makes a great lather, slick and thick. I wasn't sure about the brush at first, but it works well, and the long handle is actually pretty handy.

The razor is a copy of the first razor I bought with my own money in 1972 or 1973. I lost the original, it took a while, but I found a nice one, in a case, on ebay a while back.

The shave was excellent, three passes to bbs.

    Gillette Psycho
    7 O'clock Sharp Edge
    Knotty Badger Best
Williams Mug soap - for Dave.
    AV Ice Balm

Williams actually worked as well as MWF for me, but I was not a fan of the scent. Very soapy. Could be milled with a scent to make it very nice. Like Dave said, if Williams was the only soap on the market, I would still wet shave.

Also, thanks to the Psycho, I was able to get a great shave and not have the urge to hide the blade in my shoe. ;)

  12. After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep:

    Shavemac 22mm silvertip
    Fatboy/ Iridium
MWF (yeah, I'm liking it much more than I figured).

    Storer 'Monk' EdP

Ahhhhhhh, back to one of the 'perfect set ups'.....heh. My experiment with the open comb ended yesterday, and actually was fun. I did have to really be more aware of everything as that razor waltzed slooooowly over my face, but no scars left after the encounter.......

I did enjoy learning a bit more about such a beautiful razor, and found I could actually enjoy the shave pretty well. Damn thing sure did give me the closest shaves I've had with any razor, and I'll miss that part a little. I did get Colleen's 'Bay Rum with sweet orange oil SS (TGQ) outta the shaving arsenal, and that was a very smart choice. It's my very favorite bay rum related shaving fragrance (JoAnna's being second), and the performance is.....well, you should try her soaps if you haven't yet. Plus, Colleen's a perfumer of sorts as well, and some of her blends are truly amazing.

Anyway, today's shave was about perfect.......just as I remember em being. No feeling of the blade, no pulling or scraping, shaving by the sound alone. So much more effortless with my fatboy than the open comb........really amazing the difference I can make out.

I gotta say this MWF stuff has been a kick! I'm usually not a big fan of scents like that (clean and soapy), but this soap has a bit more to it than just those notes. Plus, the lather created is excellent, both in effectiveness and skin care. Hehe, I was half planning on just giving it a sniff when I got the puck, and right away putting it up for sale here......no matter how it performed (if I even tried it at all). This product lives up to the hype and I can live with the scent easily, which is lucky for me.

The usual BBS shave, with zero irritation. It's possible I may have the hang of this shaving thing........and it was very much worth taking that journey.

Many men have said to me that Kent and MWF are the exact same shaving soap. Can anyone confirm or deny that? I'm a little confused now.

  14. Hi Jeff,

Ive heard repeatedly they're the same soap, although I never saw a puck of the Kent.

  17. Larry and Chris..........great choice of razor,

Those were my very favorite injector types, and I tried almost all of em at some point. With the right blade and on the right setting, those adjustables gave me almost as good a shave on my face, and better on my neck than my DE.

Nice seeing pics of those things again.

    • Prep: Shower/OCM/IssacRN's Lathering in the Shower Prep
    • Soap: Institut Karite
    • Brush: Penchetta Penworks Silvertip
    • Razor: 1959 Gillette "Fatboy" Adjustable
    • Blade: Gillette 7 O'Clock Super Platinum (black) - day 4
    • After: Thayer's Alcohol Free Original Witch Hazel/ Pinaud Clubman Virgin Island Bay Rum

Result: Very, very nice shave. After trying several different razors, I'm thinking the Fatboy is my favorite so far. Maybe I just haven't spent as much time with the others, but it was nice and comfortable. The IK is a very close 2nd to Tabac for me. If it smelled better, it might be #1. Very difficult to decide between the two. The Super Platinum performed well enough, but I think my limit is 3 shaves, pretty much across the board. It seemed a little more dull today than yesterday. I don't want to push it. The more and more I use a bay rum product, the more and more I'm liking bay rum. It's really been gowing on me. I'm not sure how much IssacRN's lather in the shower helped. I'll have to keep at it for a few shaves, then switch back to my old way. I do think it helped soften things some....
