  3. Thanks John. Yes, the handle is made out of oak. My nose isn't the best to pick out complex scents also.

  5. Nice pic and great sounding routine today! I must say that your various seasonal homemade post-shave splashes do sound interesting. I wouldn't have thought that lavender would go very well with tea tree oil though.

  6. Nice! And probably a good choice to re-knot it even though it was NOS. After sitting in storage for 50+ years, the original boar knot would likely have shed or broken a lot of hairs.

  8. I am glad he reknotted it.Keith did say that the boar knot was fine but,my inexperience with such things back then..;)..sometines i wonder how it would have been but..:eatdrink047:
  9. Thank you, Gary.

  10. Thank you, John. The Tea tree oil doesn't over-power the mix to be honest, the effect of the essential oil combination provides a great tonic & toner for my mature skin type.
  11. Thanks Joe.

Good shave either way, the odd nick is acceptable I find, just blame it on the pimple. I really must try the 5 day shave sometime soon, my shaves seem smoother with 2 days growth rather than 1. Wonder what a 5 day-er will be like...;)

    Keep using and ageing it!

    Thanks Gary

Very elegant looking setup and brush

Scent or no scent, good lather wins the day!
  12. 24 Sep 2024
Same September setup as yesterday, one day growth, still smooth enough from yesterday

I opted for a single pass abbreviated pre-work shave this morning

Single 30sec cold water soak rather than my usual three to save some time

Gem G-bar, GEM (3), Omega boar 10049, Timeless
Faulding’s shave cream, Satsuma, Pinaud Lime Sec, Sandalwood, Arabian Sunset oud
Adequate work day shave, single pass, no damage but some leftover turf as expected, especially noticeable towards evening.

First time I managed to leave good enough at one pass
Still sticking with the SE and Satsuma theme, I surprise myself, normally like chopping and changing things up a bit

Have a great Tuesday one and all
  13. Very nice setup, pic and shave Barry. Cella makes a great lather and I like the cherry/almond scent.

  14. Super Satsuma single pass Chris.
  15. :thanks: thanks Joe it was a first for me, a single pass trumps a hurried 3 passer...
  16. Better shave this morning than that of yesterday. The man improvement is that I got rid of the hairs on Central Cctus Nation, whereas I was struggling with this recently. I mean, there are SOME hairs still there, but not as if I just didn't shave there at all. Clean and clear all over. Zero cuts, Knicks, Polka-dots. One pass. genleman on here opnce explained that "old-school" shave reams will always begin by coming out like a squiggly snake, then over time will change to a nice soft cloud. I should be pleased it comes out AT ALL, I suppose. Clubman is like that with its cream. But I won't buy that again, but for a different reason than the snake-cream persuasion. That's for another thread. Anyway, back to today-very happy with the Barbasol shave. The Stephan Bay Rum was great again-I made sure once again to really shake it well. As Outstanding As It Gets.

    DE Shave # 545

    Rating: 5 / 5

Razor: Merkur HD 39c “The Slegehammer”
    Blade: Gillette Silver Blue
    Brush: RazoRock Plissoft Monster 26mm
Pre-Shave: Pears Soap - Mint Extract
    Lather: PAA Boomtown Bay Rum
    Aftershave: PAA Boomtown Bay Rum
    Additional Care:
    Maggards Alum
    Thayer’s Witch Hazel - Original
    Nivea Sensitive Balm

Fabulous travel day shave this morning. The Merkur 39c easily took care of this morning’s growth. Once again, I was up early to get ready for my day. I took a ride over to Planet Fitness in Venice for my early morning sprint workout.

This morning’s shave set up Allowed for a wonderful lather Which was slick and voluminous. Three passes without incident to shave nirvana.

I will be leaving the Southern end prior to the arrival or passing arrival of hurricane Helene. Fortunately, the forecast has the storm bypassing our area, with minimal impact while heading towards the Florida panhandle.

Hope you all have a fabulous day.
