I need suggestions on how to travel with a shave stick to keep from messing up my toiletry bag. I found the shave stick holders available are very big. I try to travel as light as possible. Thanks.
I buy shave sticks that come in their own containers with lids. I don’t know if this will meet your size requirements, but have found it travels well. Another option is an empty prescription bottle.
The easiest way to do it is to buy a shave stick that comes with it's own case. La Toja, LEA, De Vergulde Hand, or similar. The other option is to buy old Colgate shave stick tins. Or as has already been mentioned, foil wrap.
I went to my local pharmacy with my shave stick and travel brush, and asked for a couple of pill containers to put 'em in. They had tons of questions about my stick, brush, and "old timey" shaving. They gave me two perfectly-sized pill containers (for free). Nice folks. - Bax
I did that with my brush. Drill a few holes in the brush bottle so it can breathe and the brush will dry out.
I also use an old prescription bottle for my brush, and drop a shave stick in a plastic sandwich baggie. I drilled a few holes in the bottle cap and bottom so it can breathe and the brush can dry out. I only use synthetic brushes, and they dry quickly, so a wet brush going in the container doesn’t happen much.
I just chuck the shave stick in the toiletry bag, along with everything else. I have never had a problem with it messing up my toiletry bag. In case it makes any difference, I used Arko and La Toja shave sticks.
Doesn't La Toja come in a handy dandy case? Mine did. I use a medicine bottles for the ones that don't have cases. ;-) - Bax
If you have access to a 3d printer just look up shave stick containers and print one to hold it. OR you could use an old Deodorant container and smush the stick into it... Either way will work. I even took an old glue stick container that i cleaned out after the glue was gone and used it .. The glue stick containers work great for sample soaps also, you just smush it into the container and then use it that way.....
Yes, it does. I actually like the Arko better because it comes in a wrapper. I use them with a little Omega boar travel brush, which cost all of $10. Pair those with a Baili BD176, which has a travel case with a mirror, and a pack of blades for a very affordable but usable travel setup. Less than $30 for the lot.
I thought yyou could just flip that baby into your jacket pocket, but I never tried a stick...what do I know?
I totally understand the struggle of traveling light! I usually take a small silicone travel container for my shave stick—it fits perfectly in my toiletry bag and keeps everything neat. I just squeeze it to get the product out, and it saves space. Sometimes, I’ll wrap the stick in plastic wrap and toss it in a small ziplock bag if I’m really tight on space.
