    Sample Sterling Satsuma soap, Slant razor = Lo Storto, Schick Blade, Pura Setola

    26 Sep 2024.jpg

    1 Days growth

    Usual Hot water Prep and Preshave = Faulding’s shave cream
    Cream/Soap = Sterling Satsuma
    Brush = Pura Setola
    Bowl = Timeless
    Razor = Slant: Fatip Lo Storto
    Blade = Vintage Schick (1)
    Passes = 2 ++
    Post = Usual CWR, Alum, rinse, pat dry, Thayers rose petal
    ASL = PR Barbe Dure with Oud Oil
    Scent = Wood Essence
    Score = 9.8 / 10
    Damage = Minor weeper left top lip in the first pass, disappeared by the end of the shave

    The Schick blade is nice and smooth, a good option to tone down the Fatip OC Slant
    The Lo Storto has a reputation of not being able to align the blade equally on both sides, despite some fiddling with the blade tabs. Oh well, not bothering with that, leave it as is and Carry on Regardless
    Lovely smooth shave, the alum was a bit zingy but that’s a good sign meaning I got nice and close. DFS and some BBS

    One more shave left with the Satsuma, whew what a schlepp sticking with one soap for all this time
    Not sure what I will do with it tomorrow...

    Have a great Thursday ladies and gentlemen

    Real good Throwback shave this morning. A minute at the Loading Dock for the first pass, but then I went back for a little more before the second. Oro Valley's main feature scent is leather.It's a nice smooth leather, similar to what you find in Fine Latigo. Clean, clears shave all over. No cuts, Knicks, Polka-dots. Two passes(as earlier indicated). Clubman Special Reserve is a great match for Oro Valley(course I don't have the Oro Valley A.S.). I call Clubman Reserve "Doc Pinaud Goes West". As Outstanding As It Gets for this one.

    Thank you, Chris. The FS synthetic was one of my first proper synthetic shaving brushes. It's great for both bowl and face lathering.

    The setup:

    IMG_20240926_060313.jpg

    And Now For Something Completely Different: Different razor, different brush, different soap and splash than what I used previously this month.

    The result: excellent overall

    I bought the Parker Adjustable injector a couple years ago and hated it. I simply could not get a decent shave with it. This time I did. I think the issue last time was that I tried the Parker immediately after a long stretch shaving with vintage Schick injectors. The Parker is more like the old PAL injectors than the Schicks -- it has a fairly narrow shaving sweet spot that you access by holding it at a shallower angle than you hold a Schick. If you hold the Parker at the same angle as a Schick, it "chatters" over the whiskers rather than slicing through them and ends up feeling too light and completely ineffective. That's what happened two years ago.

    This time, I concentrated on my shaving angle and was rewarded with two clean passes, one WTG and the second XTG. After the second pass, I was cleanshaven to a DFS standard with no blood and no razorburn. Alum was silent.

    I had been planning to dump the Parker Adjustable but after using it for "one last try", I now feel that it is a worthwhile addition to my rotation.

    Great shave and setup John. Glad you figured out the solution on getting a better shave with the Parker Adjustable Injector. It's been said many times in this forum to put away a razor when one gets subpar results and come back to it some other time. Usually, a shaver gets a better result by doing so. Glad it worked out for you John.
