Took a break from the Satsuma today: I needed a break, it felt like a Tabac day today! To be honest I will miss the Satsuma when it's gone!

GEM Brooklyn NY made in USA, the so-called 1912 model but the date of manufacture is not so easy to pin down

GEM blade (5): I gave this another chance with the “open comb” shape of the SE razor, but there was a still a fair bit of dragging going on, so this time it will be binned. I did give it another chance at least

2 Passes with liberal touch ups needed, no damage.
This razor is harder to use under the nose, have to go WE EW and / or NNW to SSE and vice versa, watch the bottom lip

Tabac Balm and ASL, always leave a lasting impression on a good start to the day

Only a couple more September SE shaves and then I will give them a break for a while. However, I do feel they help discover new angles to the technique

Hope you have a great weekend

    Thank you, gentlemen.

You are right, Joe @Trigger -- revisiting the Parker Adjustable after using other razors for a few months seems to have made all the difference.

Great pic and report again, Gary. That unmarked boar brush looks like it might have come out of one of those early- to mid-1900s "gentleman traveller's" shaving sets that had a SE or DE safety razor, shaving brush, soapstick in a metal tube, blade banks and sometimes other grooming implements all contained in a neat leather case.

The maker's or retailer's name would be stamped into the leather case and marked as usual on the razor but the other items were often not marked separately.

Nice shave Joe, hopefully Helene didn't do too much damage down your area, but by the looks of it it certainly took its toll elsewhere. Scary way to live
