Ha! I don’t know how it’s manufactured but it does seem well made, for sure. Enjoy your shaves ;)

Shaving with a Lamba Ares on loan right now.

ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING! No irritation and puts a Muhle R41 to shame. Stunningly efficient too!

I have had the pleasure of trying both the Lambda Ares and Athena on pass-arounds. The open comb Ares has some blade feel. The Athena to me is a truly magical experience. So smooth, so comfortable, no blade feel, yet extremely efficient.

Although not a cheapo, the closest comparison to the Athena to me is the Karve Overlander. The Karve Bison costs less than the Overlander and is often described as very similar to the Overlander. I have not tried the Bison, so I cannot speak to that one.

thank you very much.hear about overlander much.

    <cough> <sneeze> <harumph>

Oh, wow! I feel so much better now. Oh, there's the "shift" key on my keyboard. My mind is so much clearer now. Why wasn't I putting a space between sentences? Why was my grammar so bad?

The Overlander has been talked about many times over the years across the Web, and I admit that it has intrigued me. I agree that it is not exactly cheap, but compared to many other high-end razors it is fairly reasonable in price.

The Bison is only made in aluminum right now, and if it is better than the Overlander, which some people say it is, I might consider it if it is one day released in brass or stainless steel.

A very helpful friend has lent me several razors to try over the last year, and recently lent me his Merkur 34C since he wanted his Progress back. I do like the 34C a bit more, and it is one that I would like to buy, the caveat being that Merkur has changed the design again, and the one I have been using is over 10 years old, which was made before the previous change Merkur had made where it was milder.

For the amount that Lambda is charging for the Athena, I would be better off getting a stainless steel razor from one of the other artisans.

One good razor at $300 is better than a half dozen random razors you don't use much IMHO. Getting to the Lambda's cost me more than the razors did too!

Yes, one can always sell unused razors and the Lambda would essentially be "free."
