  1. Real nice shave this morning. 0:50 at the Loading Dock for the Stoylin Agar(Oud)soap. At the beginning, I didn't think I put that 0:50 to great use-not sre what happened-but it ended up looing great on my face and neck...well set for the shave. One Knick(North Porcupine), no other damage. The Agadir A.S. helped neutralize the Knick to a Polka-Dot. It(The Agadir)is a "Cooling Tonic" after all, but you don't get the same cool feeling as with Skin-Bracer or Aqua Velva. 2 passes. The Knick/Polka-Dot happened during the first. Nice shave in most areas(save for N. Porcupine). Agadir also had a men's bodywash(2 kinda, actually,)but I'll wait until next September to get them in time for next year's OUDtober. I was too late this year. They also have a shampoo, Too latr for that, to. I'll nbe better prepared next OUDtober. Nice beginning for that of this year, though. Super Duper Outstanding.

I went with my Parker SRB because it's been awhile since I used it. I haven't changed the Suneko blade because it still is sharp. I probably have a few more shaves with this blade after this one. Did 3 passes without any issues a day received a very close comfortable shave.
I brought out the TSD barbershoppe set because the soap and aftershave are mildly scented. The soap gives a rich, slick and creamy lather. Here's my lather:

I had minimal alum feedback. Finished with my usual postshave routine. Take care.

  10. Great start to the month of October fellas

I don’t think I am up to the rigors of a true 30 Day focus

I have tried the One Pass, but that’s also not for me, so that's out
I thought I might try Once and Done with blades, but that’s wasteful
So I will be popping in with Occasional October, Occasional Oud or Occasional OC
  11. 04 OCTOBER 2024

    2 days of growth

    04 Oct 2024 1800 90.jpg

    Usual hot water prep

    Merkur 37C
Vintage Gillette made in Australia (2) still nice and smooth
    Sterling British Leather
    Goodfellas Smile blue
    Semogue OC Cherry

Clubmand Pinaud and Guerlain Pour Homme

Super 2 passer and touch ups. The 37C is safe as houses and can take quite a bit of pressure, also feels safe around the tricky areas and ATG
I last used the British Leather a long time ago, last year maybe, and felt I didn't like the scent. It sort of smells synthetic, but then again most leather will have some chemical/stain/preservative
After 2 days of using this the scent is beginning to grow on me. It lathers real nice and doesn't dry out at all during the shave

Have a great Start to the Weekend one and all

  12. A winner of a shave today. My only change from yesterday was the Stoylin Mid-sized brush. About a minute at the Loading Dock. Clean and clear shave all around. A little extra time spent at both ends of Porcupine Alley. No cuts, Knicks, Polka-dots. Nice work from the AgadirMen A.S. As Outstanding As It Gets. (Once again, credit goes to my setup-Dial 4 Men Bodywash. I've used others, but I'll stick with Dial 4 Men. One of those others is Stoylin's offerings...Doc Ezlovan has good, skin-food choices).

  13. Terrific shave, pic and setup Chris. I have never tried a leather scented soap. That's on my list, possibly in 2025.

  14. Nice intro as usual, Joe! And I think you have done a great job running this circus sideshow!

No idea what I will do for October. In fact, I forgot it was a new month and just used last month's setup today. Maybe Oops! October?
  15. Thanks John.

  16. Friday October 4 (evening) - SE, Synthetic, Stirling September ... AKA Oops! October

Prep: Hot shower with Aleppo olive oil soap w/ 20% bay laurel oil (traditional anti-acne)

Razor: Parker Adjustable (SE) injector on setting 4 / Supply white label (made by Personna)(3)

    Soap: Stirling Vanilla Bean Espresso

Brush: APShave Co w/ 24mm SynBad synthetic fan

    Lather Bowl: None

Post: rinse, alum, rinse, Stirling Vanilla Bean Espresso splash

Last shave: Sunday morning - 5 days

    The setup:

The setup was exactly the same as Sunday's shave, which was my last one for September and SHOULD have signalled the end of that theme.

Oh well, I will figure out my October plan next time...

Anyway, it was another great shave with this previously-hated adjustable injector. I did bump the dial up one notch to setting 4 of 5 - and found the shave was even cleaner than on 3 without any irritation.

I think I will stay with this Parker Adjustable injector for at least one more session so I can see what it is like on a "wide-open" 5....

Two clean passes, one WTG and the second XTG. After the second pass, I was cleanshaven to a DFS standard with no blood and no razorburn. Alum was silent.

I hope everyone is doing well, particularly those in areas in or near where Hurricane Helene visited!

  18. October 4 SOTE

    Good evening.

    Straight Razor Shave #578
    J A Henckels Friodur
    MrEE Tuxedo Brush
Captain's Choice 45th Parallel SC and AS
    Stirling Alum Block
    Personal Care Witch Hazel
    Beard Growth: 34 hrs.

    20241004_202939.jpg

I didn't want to wait until tomorrow because I didn't feel like doing a head and face shave because I would have had to use a straight and a DE razor. I prefer to use a DE razor when I do a head and faceshave. So, I opted to use a straight for tonight's face shave. Went with my Friodur to shave off the whiskers. Three passes gave me a close and comfortable shave without any blood loss.

I picked the Captain's Choice shave cream because I like the cherry scent and it produces a creamy rich and slick lather quite easily. Here's my lather:

    20241004_203511.jpg

There wasn't any alum feedback. Splashed on the witch hazel and the wonderful matching aftershave to finish this session. Take care.

  19. Great shave, Joe! That 45th Parallel sounds interesting. I like cherry scents. Do you prefer their soap or cream?
JACarbone, brit and Trigger like this.
  20. Thanks John. Well, there are benefits to both. I like the cream version because the scent is more pronounced and you don't need much to make a lather. You can lather it in a bowl and apply the cream to your face to lather. You can facelather with the soap, but you have the load the brush off the puck to do so.
It really depends on what your preferred method of lathering that suits you. In my case, I am at ease with bowl lathering with soap or cream, loading the brush with soap or cream, or applying the cream to my face to facelather. If my time is tight, then I prefer a cream over a soap.
