    October 10

    Good afternoon.

    GEM MMOC
    GEM SE Blade (2)
    Rockwell Synthetic Brush
    Tabac SK
    Stirling Spice AS (not pictured)
    Stirling Alum Block
    Beard Growth: 48 hrs

    20241010_080512.jpg

    I had an early morning dental appointment so I decided to use the MMOCand Tabac shave stick because of the efficiency of the razor and the ease of making a lather. Did 3 passes for a comfortable shave, but did get two weeps under my neck and chin. I didn't realize the blade was relatively fresh until I researched the number of uses after this shave. Did get some serious alum feedback on the neck. Splashed the witch hazel and the aftershave to end this session. Take care.

    Awesome shave set up Joe. I hope you're dental appointment wasn't too bad for you..I liked going to my old dentist, who is now retired , because he hated going to the dentist himself!. You have jogged my scatter-brained memory to add a GEM Micromatic OC shave to my open-comb razor focus sometime this month.

    The Micromatic OC is my most efficient SE razor. When ever I use a GEM blade I always hand-strop the edge to remove any hidden burrs, or imaginary ones from thebefore I commence with my shave
    The Micromatic OC, along with my Muhle R41 have taught me to use the lightest of touch to get the best shaving results, with minimal irritation or cuts.
    Yours - Barry.

    Thanks Barry. I am going to the local dental school. Today was a new patient pre screening appointment so it was just X-rays and looking inside my mouth.
    I have to have all my teeth extracted and be fitted for dentures.

    Super setup and pic, hooked on the Feathers I see. I need to dig out a Feather or two soon

    Thanks Gary

    Luxurious setup yet again

    Nice shave Joe, you can always rely on the Tabac. If you didn't like the dental appointment at least they got to enjoy the Tabac scent!

    Thanks Joe

    Friday 11 OCTOBER

    2 days stubble

    Prep =Usual hot water prep
    Preshave = Fauldings shave cream
    Bowl = face
    Soap = Wilkinson shaving stick, time to give this a whirl again
    Brush = Semogue
    Razor = Gillette Aristocrat
    Blade = Elios (1) ………………hmmmm………..binned

    2 passes. Feeling quite roughed up: you kind of get the feeling of when you don’t need to push things beyond a certain point

    With 2 days stubble it would normally have been a better shave than this, either the Elios was not up to it or my face lathering wasn’t up to it. The lather was nice and slick though. I do remember not being impressed by this blade a while ago. I have enough others so it was promptly deposited into the Blade Bank

    No damage but the Alum was loud enough

    Proraso Rinfrescante
    Nivea balm for good measure
    Oud Malak with overtones of grapefruit

    Smooth enough for a Friday

    Have a super start to the weekend one and all

    Late post because second attempt to post - original post eaten yesterday morning.

    Thursday October 10 (morning) - Odds and Ends October

    Prep: Hot shower with Aleppo olive oil soap w/ 20% bay laurel oil (traditional anti-acne)

    Razor: Parker Adjustable (SE) injector on setting 5 / Supply white label (made by Personna)(4)

    Soap: J M Fraser's Shaving Cream

    Brush: Simpson's Chubby 2 Synthetic Bristle

    Lather Bowl: None

    Post: rinse, alum, rinse, unknown Spice sample splash

    Last shave: Friday evening - 5.5 days

    The setup:

    IMG_20241010_120357.jpg

    I did a mix and match shave today of assorted items.

    The JM Fraser's is now more a rubbery croap than a cream, but it still loads easily and face lathers well.

    I bumped the Parker Adjustable injector to its maximum setting of 5. It removed my stubble with two easy passes with no irritation noted. For a daily shave, I would probably set the dial at 2 or 3 to minimize any irritation from more frequent shaving, but for heavy stubble, wide-open is fine.

    I have had a couple small nearly empty sample bottles of splashes sitting on my sink for a few years and I decided to use them up this month. They were a gift from another 30DCer - probably Jason @jtspartan. The blue bottle is Polar Ice to which he added glycerin for better skincare. The reddish liquid in the little spray bottle is an Old Spice dupe of some sort -- I think maybe B&M Reserve Spice (???). Not sure. Anyway, that was the one I used today. It smells nice, has a bit of an alcohol burn and has some soothing properties afterwards. There is enough left in the bottle for one or two more spritzes and then I will move on to the Polar Ice...
