The Williams Mug Shaving Soap lathered well with the Jayaruh #41 Two-band badger brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Gem Jr. Lather Catcher Razor and the Personna PTFE SE Blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Lustray Spice After Shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Guys, believe it or not this De Vergulde Hand is the world’s oldest soap - it’s been around for over 450 years so there’s no doubt that the company knows what its doing. Do I ever LOVE the beautiful old school scent that has a bit of an exotic note, the lather is superb - so thick, rich, slick as well as protective, and it gives excellent postshave care. The matching balm has the same scent, it’s so soothing as well as moisturizing, and it has a bit of a menthol sensation. The matching aftershave spray unfortunately, was discontinued quite a while ago so I don’t use it too often because I want it to last as long as possible. Finally a little Obsession and I’m ready to enjoy this lovely Sunday with the family and some friends of ours who are coming to visit this afternoon. Another brilliant three pass BBS shave that was lots of fun!

SE SOTD, Sunday, OCtober 20th 2024

Razor : Yaqi Excalibur SE 50mm with a Yaqi Milano 316 SSP handle. Mfg 2021> mild to tame mid range. Very affordable razor AC head but not as perfected compared to the Yaqi Romulus AC head IMO.
Blade : Schick proline (8) Sharp and smooth with great longevity. (Last shave and tossed)
Soap : Razorock The Dead Sea croap, very addictive unique scent with excellent lather qualities.
Brush : Yaqi "Atlantis" 24mm synthetic. Great brush!
Pre shave : (Dedicated Cashmere synthetic)Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser with a dollop of clear Aloe Vera on the cleaned beard area.
Prep : Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG + ATG + pickups.
Post shave : Razorock The Dead Sea with witch hazel+ a dollop of CeraVe moisturizing lotion(scentless).
Results : or CCS,DFS,BbS + no irritation + no weepers= Had a close comfortable shave this morning with my Yaqi Excalibur with a Schick proline 50mm blade.

My dear brother Abir in Kolkata, India makes fabulous soaps and aftershave products - let me tell you that this Blend 47 is a great example of his talent. The scent is so nice - it’s eucalyptus in a similar way to Proraso Green but much nicer, the soap is vegan based, it gives amazing lather, the menthol sensation is really good, and the postshave feeling is so comfortable as well as soothing. The Blend 47 balm has the same nice scent as the soap, it’s very strongly mentholated, and it’s so soothing. The Northern Elixir aftershave has a lovely eucalyptus/peppermint scent, and it’s FRIGID. Finally the gorgeous Bleu de Chanel fragrance and it’s gonna be a nice, relaxing day of retirement for me. What a great three pass BBS shave this was!

I'll have to look into this one. I recently bought some soaps from Caswell Massey, which broke ground in 1752, but Vergulde beats Caswell for oldest soap.
