Sunday shave, OCtober 17th 2024 Razor : Gem Damaskeene Open Comb(The original Damaskeene 1912 design). Mfg 1912-15, mild to tame mid range. Gem(ASR) most successful razor was the 1912 model, millions of 1912 model variants where sold. This one still has the strop attachment inside the handle as shown that was used in those days. Blade : Gem Personna SS PTFE(1) very sharp, excellent longevity, smooths out nicely, predictable + safest blade to handle. Soap : Cyril R Salter Wild Rose, nice rose scent with excellent lather qualities. Brush : Yaqi "Artic sky" 24mm 3band silvertip badger. Over all great brush for my shaving needs. Pre shave : (Dedicated Cashmere synthetic)Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser with a dollop of clear Aloe Vera on the cleaned beard area. Prep : Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG + ATG + pickups. Post shave : Italian Barber Amici splash with witch hazel + a dollop of CeraVe moisturizing lotion(scentless). Results : or CCS,DFS,BBS + no irritation + no weepers= Had a close comfortable shave this morning with my Gem Damaskeene 1912 OC with a coated Gem blade. Wonderful shave this morning. Two passes and touch ups with the AutoStrop A1 Single Edge Razor and the Personna Gem Stainless PTFE Blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. Menthol Monday: A lulu of a Grand Freeze! Warm shower Yaqi 30mm Barber Pole Super Speed/Wilkinson Sword day 10 Stirling Glacial Obsidian SS Bundubeard Stoffel ASB Noble Otter Northern Elixir AS Splash Calvin Klein Obsession Deodorant Stick Calvin Klein Obsession EdT This setup is not for the faint of heart because it’s bloody FRIGID. The Glacial Obsidian soap’s black licorice scent is so delightful, I had tons of rich, super slick, cushiony lather, the menthol sensation pummelled my face right from the get go, and the postshave feeling was wonderful. The Stoffel balm from Bundubeard has such a nice peppermint scent, and it’s so soothing as well as icy cold, and the Northern Elixir aftershave is another bona fide menthol atom bomb - its scent is also great. Last but not least the super nice Obsession fragrance and I’m ready to enjoy another relaxing day of retirement. ASRazor shave, Monday, OCtober 27th, 2024. Razor : Star Bar #4 lather catcher. Mfg 1919-20, mild to tame mid range. The best razor I own with a reasonably fresh coated Gem blade to get a close comfortable stellar shave consistently. Star brand mastered this razor for that time period and proud I own one. Blade : Gem Personna SS PTFE (2). Very sharp, excellent longevity, smooth out nicely, predictable + safest blade to handle. Soap : Mitchell's wool fat, very mild scent with excellent lather qualities. First time using the puck like a stick application soap and results where excellent for first pass with rich thick lather. Brush : Yaqi" Moka Express" 24 mm synthetic. Very gentle brush to work the face with excellent results for lathering. Pre shave : (Dedicated Cashmere synthetic)Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser with a dollop of clear Aloe Vera on the cleaned beard area. Prep : Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG + ATG + pickups. Post shave : Pinaud Clubman with witch hazel + a dollop of CeraVe moisturizing lotion(scentless). Results : or CCS,DFS,BBs + no irritation + no weepers= Had a close comfortable shave this morning with my Star bar #4 with a Gem coated blade. To bad not every shave was like this, will take it when it comes with joy! Have some great shaves!
