    Great Darkfall shave, Joe.

I have never used - or even handled - a horsehair brush. How do they compare to boar, badger or the new synthetics?

Nice shave, pic and report, Gary!

I have wondered about Rocky Mountain Barber's shave soaps and splashes, since they are a Western Canadian company. In September 2022, I bought a bottle of their Cedar Spice All-In-One Body Wash and Shampoo to use in the shower. Scent was pleasant and quite mild and short-lasting, and the product was ... liquid soap/shampoo/cleanser. It worked. I used it up. Didn't feel any wild desire to rush right out to replace it.

Sounds like their shave soaps and creams and splashes are the same? Good quality ingredients and okay scent and performance but nothing outstanding?

sounds about right..the sandalwood shave cream works well, sort off like proraso red cream in a tube.happy to support them but they are not top shelf imho..:):eatdrink047:.it's like they hit the crossroads and took the high path ,mass appeal over higher quality/more expensive..it would be good enough for about 90% of todays shavers..if they even knew the difference..:D:eatdrink047:

Yes, they have their own website but market heavily on Amazon rather than any through any of the Canadian or American shaving dealers or (I think) on any of the shaving websites like TSD. And they likely won't knock Stirling or B&M off their perch any time soon, :)

i agree, not likely..i have met many people that know about and use their product, but they are not dedicated hobbyist wetshavers like ourselves..;)

    Early Morning shave.

Another close comfortable face & head shave the Arko Shave Stick provided a slick protective lather in a short space of time.

Arko shaving products have never failed me and have always provided me with good acceptable shaving results. This morning was no exception.

Finishing the shave off with a few small dollops of Boots Cucumber Moisturising Lotion.

Great report and pic on a good shave, Barry!

I agree: I have never gotten a bad shave from an Arko stick. It can be a bit drying to the skin -- but that's what the post-shave products are for. And some people think the lemony scent is too "industrial" -- which is strictly YMMV and the scent doesn't last beyond the shave anyway. I don't mind the scent myself. Which is a very good thing, because I bought a carton of 12 sticks years ago and still have most of them... (An Amazon seller made a mistake, I think, and sold cartons for awhile for the price of a single stick. Many of us took advantage of that.)

Tuesday December 03 (morning) - Decadent December

Prep: Hot shower with Aleppo olive oil soap w/ 20% bay laurel oil (traditional anti-acne)

Razor: Supply 2.0 matte black stainless steel injector w/ SE open comb "nick-proof" plate / Supply Black Label (about 7)

Soap: Jeeves of Hudson Street Key Lime shaving soap (stick)

Brush: Jason's 30DC LE maple cashmere

    Lather Bowl: None

Post: rinse, alum, rinse, Jeeves of Hudson Street Key Lime splash

Last shave: not a clue - probably Thursday or Friday

    The setup:

    IMG_20241203_074026.jpg

For my first Decadent shave of December, I went with my favourite injector razor and a brush made for the 30DC crew by Jason @jtspartan. The soap and splash was a seasonal offering by the now defunct Jeeves of Hudson Street -- Key Lime.

The soap was a large sample that I had turned into a shave stick using one of TSD's shave stick containers. To be honest, it was a bit of a disappointment today. It originally had a powerful scent, but in the mere four years since I last used it, it had lost all its scent while sitting in that loose plastic holder. The performance was still there though.

The splash - which was sold in a glass bottle - made up for the soap with a still-noticeable scent. It also still provides excellent skin moisturizing and protection along with a light menthol tingle.

Overall, two passes to a great result with silent alum and at least a bit of a spicy scent.

A good start to December and I will try to do better than November - my first November report was on November 1 .... followed by nothing for the rest of the month.
