I had an excellent Thanksgiving day shave with Subtle Art Soap Draconis (one of my all time favorite soaps) a 40s French bakelite Gillette Tech from Darwin Shaving and a 1941 Gillette Ranger Tech. I used a Gillette Spoiler in both razors.
First shave with the Gillette Diplomat. It has an A 1 date code. Which I believe makes it a first quarter 1953 sicne i read they were produced from 1953 to 1956. I loaded the Gillette Spoiler I've been using and it was a great shave. The Moon Soaps Amaretto lathered well with this beautifully restored Ever-Ready brush. It has an AP shave co Gelousy SHD knot.
Menthol Monday's Cold Water Shave Cold Water Rinse TSD Iced Lemongrass Shaving Soap Turkish #6 Horse Hair Gillette President Gillette Silver Blue Mennen After Shave The TSD Iced Lemongrass Shaving Soap lathered well with the Turkish #6 Horse Hair Brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Gillette President razor and the Gillette Silver Blue Blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Mennen After Shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
Thank you very much. Is my 1953 production assessment correct. I get lost sometimes searching out specifics on thee things. I really should make some little labels for the razors I positively identify to keep track better.
gillette had dropped the aristocrat in the u.s and replaced it with the diplomat..if yours is a-1 it makes it 1st quarter 1955

I had an exceptionally pleasant shave with my Gillette Bulldog this morning. I love the patina on it. And to me, the Gillette Bulldog has the best looking knurling of any razor I've seen. As always Ariana Evans The Novelist performed flawlessly. The scent is exquisite too.
