  4. Great weekend shaves, gents!

Joe @Trigger - sometimes the simplest fixes work the best!

Gary, love that bowl/brush set Jason made for you!
  5. Late shave report:

Saturday December 07 (early morning) (I think - it "might" have been early Friday morning instead) - Decadent December

Prep: Hot shower with Aleppo olive oil soap w/ 20% bay laurel oil (traditional anti-acne)

Razor: Supply 2.0 matte black stainless steel injector w/ SE open comb "nick-proof" plate / Supply Black Label (about 8)

Soap: Jeeves of Hudson Street Key Lime shaving soap (stick)

Brush: Jason's 30DC LE maple cashmere

    Lather Bowl: None

Post: rinse, alum, rinse, Jeeves of Hudson Street Key Lime splash -- and then the styptic pencil

Last shave: Tuesday morning - 4 days (or 3 if this shave was actually on Friday)

    The setup:

    IMG_20241203_074026.jpg

I repeated my first Decadent shave of December -- my favourite injector razor and a brush made for the 30DC crew by Jason @jtspartan paired with the seasonal Key Lime soap and splash offering by the now defunct Jeeves of Hudson Street.

Overall, two passes to an almost great result. I was DFS near BBS with silent alum. Then, after I was all finished and had done the splash - I noticed a welling drop of blood on my left upper lip. The rinses and alum rub hadn't sealed it, so I had to dig out the styptic pencil! I may have nicked a pimple / ingrown hair there -- or I might just have screwed up on my last shaving pass. Not sure which. But a quick swipe with the dampened styptic pencil rubbed out the problem.

I think I will continue using the Key Lime soap sample turned "shave stick" this month until it's gone. The soap's scent has virtually disappeared but the shave performance and post-shave skinfeel are still completely present, which makes for a pleasurable shave experience. I will then move on to one of my full Jeeves of Hudson Street tubs.

Hope the weekend has treated everyone well. Here in Saskatoon, we enjoyed a freezing rain today that turned the heavy snow still on the streets and sidewalks into deep slush. And now the temperature is dropping. By tomorrow, everything is going to be a rutted icy hell with cars stuck and people slipping and falling everywhere. Joy....

  7. Thanks John. As far as the razor, the door still pops out of kilter, but not as much. I will have to be gentle with it

Yes, it's been awhile since I have used Max. I decided he needed to come out of hibernation. Anyway, 3 error-free passes gave me a smooth and comfortable shave. The alum was silent. Applied the witch hazel and the old-fashioned aftershave to top off this morning's shave. Take care.

  9. For this morning, one cut down at S.E. South Porcupine ruined an otherwise great shave. Again, I went under my normal minute spent at the Loadinng Dock, as the sosp jumped onto the Boar brush. Clean clear on the cheeks, N. Porcupine, No damage, other than the one cut. I may be able to go longer with this soap than [previously though, we'll see. Nice finish from the Clubman Special Reserve A.S.(which I now call "Doc Pinaud Goes West".). Most Outstanding,

Another fantastic Declaration Grooming shave this morning. I took a change of pace from the Micromatics in the Northern Den by selecting the GEM Feather razor. Different GEM, same stellar results.
