I was going to do a headshave as well, but I decided to leave it for tomorrow I facelathered to prep my stubble, hence no lather pic. Did 3 passes for a very close and comfortable shave, but did catch a weeper. I thought it was much worse because I really felt the edge. Lol! Anyway, the cold water plus the alum dealt with it very well. In fact, I broke out a new alum block and there wasn't any feedback. The witch hazel and splash treatment followed. All in all, I was happy with this shave. Probably will bring out the R102 for tomorrow's headshave. Take care.I

    Very nice evening shave, Joe.

I had a Rockwell 6S at one point (In fact, I kickstarted that razor when the company was just starting out). It was a good razor but I eventually sold it on to someone else here on TSD. Same with a Karve brass Christopher Bradley razor. I felt that those modern interchangeable plate razors (stainless steel in the case of the Rockwell 6S) didn't do anything for me that my vintage Gillette dial-adjustable Black Beauty couldn't do equally well. Haven't really missed them so far...

    Great Christmas Eve shave, Barry!

You know, I have a couple pucks of Haslinger stashed in my soap cache somewhere. According to my written list, Schafmilch is one and the other is Coconut. I had forgotten all about them until I saw your post. I will have to unearth them and use them again soon...

I hope you have a safe and peaceful Christmas Day too!

As a fiction writer I like recently said on her blog: "I want good tidings and holiday cheer, for f*ck’s sake.” (Upon which, someone anonymously sent her this wall hanging...):

Just to be clear, Chris, because my original post wasn't: the boots I own are not R.M.Williams but the Tasmanian-made Blundstones everyone wears around here.

I have had my original pair of standard pull-on Blundstones for about 25 years. The original rubber soles cracked after five years or so and a local luggage and shoe repair shop resoled them with Vibram soles, which are still going strong 20 years later. (Longer than the Awl Shoppe unfortunately - it fell victim to the Covid pandemic when the worldwide quarantine meant nobody was travelling anymore and therefore nobody was buying luggage...)

Since the original boots were so good, I bought a pair of insulated ones for winter. And then, when I wanted safety boots for motorcycling, I got the third pair with CSA-rated toe caps, puncture-resistant sole plates and side ankle protectors. My niece borrowed them this summer when she was a summer tour guide in a restored late 19th century / early 20th century coal mine.

I don't think you can ever go wrong with a pair of pull-on Blunnies...
