DE Shave # 580 - DEcember Shave - Yaqi Travler

    Razor: Yaqi Traveler
    Blade: Suneko Amorphous Diamond SS
    Brush: Ever Ready 200T
    Lather: Southern Witchcrafts Tres Matres
Aftershave: Declaration Grooming/Chatillon Lux La Petite Prairie
    Additional Care:
    Omega Alum

I hope you all have had a great Christmas. I have been extremely busy with cooking and now traveling to post. I hope to catch up on viewing all your great shaves today.

Fantastic travel, shave this morning. The sample soap from Southern Witchcrafts has met up with the Edmund Fitzgerald. It has been a banner week for the EF. As a result of this soaps demise, I have completed a total of 6 sample soaps and 3 tubs in 2024. With the acquisition of 2 tubs and two samples I 2024, I have a net reduction in both dens of 4 soaps. I am not planning on acquiring any soaps for 2024 but one never knows as birthday number 66 is not in the to distant future.

The end result of this mornings shave was a super close and smooth facial experience with one ten minute delayed weeper.

@ChrisB - She said, "I wasn't sure what kind of brush you liked, synthetic or beaver, so I got this one because I like the handle!" I told her it was likely not beaver, but maybe badger. She shouted, "That's it!" :happy097:

This was another "bullpen shave".Thank gpy S. Porcupine(chin)where I developed a cut in the middle. No further damage, and I've had woodness for bullpens! The Jayauh set me up nicely along the face and neck. Clean and clear everywhere except S. Porcupine(chin) in the middle. I've had w orse cuts before. But that red baby needed to go, and the cold-water rinse and A.S. were brought in from the bullpen to do just that.Gabels Original A.S. can pass for an unscented fragrance. There is A fragrance, but it is neutral enough to work woth any shave soap. Most Outsanding.

    Another Blast from the Past

Razor - '46-'47 Gillette Superspeed (No notch)
    Blade - astra-superior-platinum.jpg
Soap - Blood on Steel 2018 Meet Up (Jeeves)
    Brush - Jayruh JR #46
Finish - Blood on Steel A/S

Going back a year further than yesterday's setup. I chose my '46 - '47 Superspeed. A classic razor no matter what year it was produced, this one is the no-notched early version of what would become one of Gillette's longest selling razors. It's a mild TTO razor that gets the job done with little hassle and low risk of cuts and irritation. I paired it with an Astra Superior Platinum blade, made by Gillette in their St. Petersburg, Russia plant. My first 100 pack purchase was the Astra SP, followed closely by the Voskhod from Moscow. The Astra SP is an exceptionally sharp and smooth blade, and became my go to blade for head shaves for several years.

The Blood on Steel 2018 is a fantastic scent, great lather, and I'm hanging onto it as it was from our very first meet-up. I chose the JR #46 as it was my first adoption from @Jayaruh , and I'm now awaiting my fifth of his brushes to add to my collection. The background is a small desktop/tabletop screen from South Korea, a gift once again to all attendees from @Keithmax . I use it in quite a few of my pictures as the background.

Another great shave as the year winds down. Hope you've had a fantastic holiday week and here's to a great weekend!

Friday December 27 (morning) - Decadent December

Prep: Hot shower with Aleppo olive oil soap w/ 20% bay laurel oil (traditional anti-acne)

Razor: Supply 2.0 matte black stainless steel injector w/ SE open comb "nick-proof" plate / Supply Black Label (about 12)

Soap: Jeeves of Hudson Street Key Lime shaving soap (stick)

Brush: Jason's 30DC LE maple cashmere

    Lather Bowl: None

    Post: rinse, alum, rinse

Last shave: Sunday morning - 5 days

    The setup:

    IMG_20241203_074026.jpg

My usual setup for Decadent December, since I am still trying to finish off the Jeeves of Hudson Street Key Lime shave stick.

I did my usual two passes today - first WTG and then XTG. Result was a DFS with no bloodspots or razorburn. Alum was silent. I passed on the splash today as I felt no need for any postshave skin care.

It looks like the Key Lime shave stick will still be with me going into 2025. I think the Black Label injector blade will hit the bin after next shave though. That will probably be my final shave for December and 2024, so I will start the new year with a fresh blade but with some Key Lime soap still hanging on.

Edit: After writing this, I was curious and advanced the shave stick to expose all of the remaining soap ... there is a good 2" left inside that 2.5" deep container! Not only is it nowhere near finished, I have barely started using it. And another project hits the rocks...
