Awesome start to the New Year with the return of the straight razor after a month’s hiatus due to DEcember. The Genco razor performed flawlessly. My usual three passes for superb results.

Enjoying the weather down here at the Southern Den. I spent the day at the beach until the Red Tide, not the Crimson Tide of Alabama, rolled in. A noticeable fact that once it rolled in numerous people, including myself, began coughing. As a result, we left the beach and went to the pool. Later, we had a nice dinner at a Turkish restaurant in downtown Venice.

Cold wet flannel to my face.
Pears Transparent bar Soap.
Brush: Omega S10018.
Bowl Lather.
Bowl: Tesco's Ceramic 'Cosmo' Side Bowl.
Lather: The body Shop Maca root & Aloe shaving cream.
Blade: Dorco Prime Platinum. (D2)
Razor: Baili BD177 Rose Gold TTO.

Cold Water Face Rinse./Cold water face wash with brush squeezing's,/Alum Rub./Cold Water Rinse./Homemade (~Autumn/Winter mix~) peppermint lavender, eucalyptus, + Tea Tree essential Oils Mixed Together With Care+Witch Hazel./Giorgio Beverly Hills Ocean Dream ASL./Nivea soft moisturiser.

Happy New Year to all members of TSD, wishing you all peace good health, happiness & contentedness for 2025.

In my January 2025 focus I will continue to use Baili BD177 Rose Gold TTO & Yintal 9306-I TTO along with a variety of other clone razors paired up with the Amazon Solimo blades for my face shaves, and continue using various Cartridge razors for my head/dome shaves.

A close comfortable silky smooth shave with no errors to report.

Finishing the shave off with a few small dollops of Nivea soft moisturiser.

My face is feeling smooth, & smelling divine.

IIRC, Gary @brit likes that Body Shop Maca Root & Aloe shaving cream and has stocked up on it a few times when he found supplies of it. I have never tried it myself but his comments about it have made it sound tempting...

And FWIW, the Amazon Solimo DE blades reportedly are (or were - Amazon has dropped a lot of Solimo-branded products again) the same Personna blades formerly made in Israel but now in Germany that get repackaged under many "house brand" labels by supermarket chains, etc. Personna is probably the biggest supplier of bulk blades for private labelling in Europe / North America; their product has always been consistently good.

Thank you John...The Amazon/Solimo blades where a surprise token gift from my sister. I've have and used a few "house brand" supermarket chemist own private labelling blades, all I've liked they have all felt like The Personna "Comfort coated "/Platinum- Wilkinson sword SS. As for the Body Shop Maca Root & Aloe shaving cream it's one if not my favourite shaving cream to date. I have two un-opened tubs which will keep me going for quite some time. You are probably like me and don't need to purchase anymore shaving soap/creams for ages, but I totally recommend The Body Shop Maca Root & Aloe Shaving cream it's performance and post shave feel are outstandingly good. Gillette Ganuary -January 2, 2025

I decided to pull my Tech from my Dopp kit since I won’t be traveling in January and gave it a go. Everytime I use this little razor I ask myself why I ever needed any other razor. It just delivers! Lather is getting nicer the more I use this brush - slick, dense and shiny.

Post: Cool rinse and CC Venture

2 simple passes and I’m good until tomorrow.

I'm always thrilled when I do a shave that makes me feel great on Throwback Thursday. I gave the Gillette a good solid shake and dunked it under the tap prior to the shave. Doing that really helps bring out the Foamy in cloud fashion, which I really like in a canned product. One pass. No damage. Nice finish from the Royal Copenhagen A.S,,, although I momentarily forgot about the pour spout producing a Niagra Falls entry into my hand. As Outstanding As It Gets.
