    Thanks Joe. Apparently, you missed my previous four Dovo shavette shaves with a Feather. Lol! I know you have been preoccupied with life so you can't read every post. I wanted to use a fresh Feather blade to see how much I have improved with my technique. Years ago, I cut myself a couple of times using a new Feather blade and decided not to use them in my Dovo shavette. I happened to get a tuck of Feathers from the anonymous piffers that gave me a great haul last year. Btw, I still have the hairshaper blades.

    Jillette January

    Razor - 1959 (E4) Gillette Fatboy (9)
    Blade - gillette-sputnik.jpg
    Soap - Stirling 2018 Fair Debonaire St. Louis
    Brush - Stirling Synthetic
    Finish - Stirling 2018 Fair Debonaire St. Louis

    It's a Stirling night. It's also the final birth year razor of my Gillette collection. This is the first Fatboy I bought, and it's an E4 making it a birth year and quarter razor for me. This razor isn't in quite as good shape as the E3 Fatboy I just got, but it still shaves the way it was designed to do. I'm considering a replating job on it, especially since I have another one in original finish. I paired it with the Sputnik blade, a Gillette Russian from St. Petersburg.

    For the soap I grabbed Stirling 2018 Fair Debonaire, a special event soap made for an event right here in St. Louis. I picked this up personally from Rod that day during the event. Fantastic scent and, of course, lather. This soap became Haverford once he had introduced it in St. Louis, and I highly recommend it. The big Stirling synthetic brush whipped up a rich lather, which is a darker color from this soap. It's a great Tabacco and Vanilla combination that's an absolute delight to use.

    I went two passes with this Fattie and Sputnik combination and it felt great. Decided on a third and apparently lost my concentration a bit. I was enjoying the experience too much, perhaps, but felt like I may have gone a bit heavy handed on the final pass. The finish was smooth as silk, but the Stirling aftershave proved me right on that heavy handed bit. Pretty good sting and burn, but it calmed down nicely and left me enjoying the result.

    Three razors to go to complete the rotation of my vintage Gillettes. The next two up are adjustables as well, and the final one is a Superspeed. Great shaves yet ahead.

    Thanks Gary, why the "angel", not my favourite razor by a long run

    Great posts Neal, as always.

    Great #600 Joe.

    Thanks John

    Cool, I like the way the miniature mascot MoLC chappy is keeping his beady eye on the razor

    2 Days growth

    One more Shave Stick Shave, just for luck, wanted to compare another OC with a different shave stick

    Soap = Wilkinson Shave Stick
    Brush = Semogue Pegasus C7 finest badger 2 band. Holds the lather beautifully, paints well
    Bowl = face

    Razor = Gillette No 77 thin handle tech 1945: 46.8 grams. 363 892

    Blade = Feather day 3
    Passes = 3
    Post = Usual CWR, Alum, rinse, pat dry, Thayers rose petal, Nivea ASB
    ASL = Imperial leather
    Scent = English Leather AS splash
    Score = 9.5 / 10
    Damage = None, but the Alum was vocal and harsh below the left jawline

    The Wilkinson stick lathered well, less thick than the Tabac, but served me well
    The No 77 is similar to the Goodwill of 2 days ago, quite a handful, I find the teeth quite rough, the blade gets really close to the skin and needs a really light touch. Not sure if this type of OC suits me yet. Also not sure if the Feather is fading on day 3, will need to test this with a closed comb razor next…

    And thus endeth my 2 week Shave Stick focus. Overall very happy with how they work
    I need to start taking notes of which soaps and brushes pair up well, which razors and soaps pair well etc
    At the moment it's random but that's part of the fun
    I know some here spreadsheet this, but I might start with pen and paper Lol!

    Have a great day one and all

    Lol, for a moment i thought the opposite, as in: it might send you to join the angels if not careful. I will still have to work at getting this to feel mild, though!
