It's really hard to believe BUT starting Tuesday morning it is going to snow here in SE Louisiana! And, according to local forecast, we're going to get up to 6" of the white stuff. It's also going to be bitterly cold with lows in the mid teens.

We are so not ready for this. There is no real snow removal equipment available so the roads will be dangerous. Think I'm just gonna stay home.

You're getting more there in LA than we are up here in South Jersey.
We got an inch yesterday evening. Currently 25, feeling like 15.
Waking up tomorrow to 7 degrees, windchill 2 below.

Up here on the shore of Lake Ontario we got about 10 inches overnight (at least in my backyard) and into this morning. Temperature around 15 degrees F. That makes it about the wintriest day we've had so far this year, but no big deal.
Got my exercise this morning snow-shoveling. :eatdrink013:

For all who have noted their locations and the regularity of snow, WE DON'T HAVE SNOW HERE LIKE THIS EVER! I'm worried for those who might have to travel
Doing fine. We had a powdery light snow that has just now stopped (5:20 cst) Probably have about 4" accumulation Weather people say this is the most snow in over 100 years for this area. I'm about 35 north of New Orleans. Temps tonite are supposed to drop to around 14F. Gonna suck

    Glad you're doing okay.
Stay warm, stay safe. Just be real careful if they call for melting during the day, then freezing at night. Black ice is no joke.

I know. Grew up in Iowa and have had several encounters with black ice. Not good sometimes

It's conceivable that you may not own a snow shovel,

    But if you do,
and if you ever find yourself in a situation where it will snow nonstop for several days,
I recommend shoveling at least once a day, while it is still snowing.

-6 this morning but the forecast calls for a high of 18 today.

The local climate change activists cancelled a planned rally due to the extreme cold.

Do not own a snow shovel. Don't think anyone in the area has one either. Just not needed normally

Most of the major, and not so major, roads are closed due to ice/snow. Makes things very quiet.

I recall a Super Bowl from the N.O. Superdome when tje announcers said it was 34 outside. I was thinking, 34? In New Orleans? WEIRD.

When it gets so cold that you think nothing could feel colder
and then the temperature drops ten degrees,
it's like a whole new kind of cold.

It's not the cold that bugs me, but the wind that sometimes comes with it.

I went to college in Lubbock TX. One winter, it was in the single digits for highs all week, with snow and ice. The part that hurt the most was the 45-50 mph constant winds. I had a thick leather jacket with a metal zipper. The wind and cold cut through the zipper, leaving me with a good case of wind burn down my chest. When the temps went above freezing, people were sun tanning outside, and 40°F seemed like a warm spring day.

Count me as one who can't stand the wind, even when it's warm outside.
