YPM & Paradigm unite & present the Diamondback Ti.

I won't go into a lengthy write up as I just recently received this razor and have only achieved one shave with it so far. I'm aware that this shave forum deals more in the vintage realm and also delves more into the fiscally responsible & frugal oriented community. And I say that with respect to the far majority that are more in tuned with the economical side of the shave procurement population that exists here. Nothing wrong in being frugal or cheap in one's particular shave ideology. However, there is still room to speak of the less economically created hardware or shave gear in general to at least have a lucid, intelligent and respectful conversation and sharing of opinions between both sides of the economic boundary lines that exist amongst us. Enough hot air and to the subject at hand.

The Paradigm Diamondback Ti has been created by Paradigm Shaveware & Yates Precision Manufacturing after months of extensive trialing and prototyping. The end product that you see below in the pics is the razor of said union between these two manufacturing artisans. Truly a work of art, supreme & precise craftsmanship with world class finishing looks. I've only just shaven with it once but, plenty more are to follow and I can earnestly say that this razor brings something unique to the luxury/performance shave category other than its obvious high pricetag. In today's economics though, I would consider it a very fair price in comparison to equally created exotic alloy razors costing significantly more.

The shave was excellent minus a few weepers due to operator error and just getting accustomed to the Diamondback Ti. It's super smooth and yet equally efficient with minimal blade feel. An amazing melding of both attributes with the comfortable and soft feeling nature of this high end alloy.

It's a beauty, period.

I might be looking for a step up to one of these more upscale razors someday soon. For me, this is a hobby, and we all spend money on hobbies, don't we. So buy what you enjoy. No need to explain. They wouldn't be building beauties like this if nobody was going to buy them.

Agreed! Most I've ever spent on a razor was for my Yates 921-M, and I wouldn't have pulled the trigger on that without the military discount Jake offers. This is the most expensive razor I have, and while I really do like it, it's not the best I have in my collection.

 

It's not an easily affordable razor. One can and will get an excellent shave with affordable vintage razors and there are plenty of very economical modern razors out there that will satisfy most wet shavers today. Hell, I used a Dollar Tree 3pc. razor recently that actually matched the results of a pre-war Tech in both comfort & performance. Go figure. Thing is, personally I have a thing with Titanium Alloy razors and I truly enjoy the face feel & ease of maneuverability it provides. I don't try to acquire each one that comes out, just those that draw my attention such as this one, Timeless & Blackland. I do establish limits, sometimes....

 

It's a very nice razor indeed. Glad you were able to know what you wanted, get what you wanted, and enjoy what you got. A lot of my journey has been solo hunting and pecking buying a razor here and there with definite limits that I might stretch occassionally. Haha!
You mentioned Timeless and Blackland. I don't have any Blackland razors, but I do have a couple of Timeless aluminum razors in my collection, the ALSB45 and the Slant which provides a pretty stellar shave. Both are sub-$60 each. I would like to get a Ti razor at some point. Been looking at the Timeless Titanium Slim https://timelessrazor.com/products/...ion-double-edge-safety-razor-0-5-mm-blade-gap. Someday.

A smooth & efficient shave with the Ti D-back. Feedback from the razor is very nice, not over the top nor muted but, a nice balance where the audible effect is enough to let one know exactly what’s going on at the business end. Easy to maneuver and control anywhere on the face & neck while still having that feel of don’t get too carried away, if that makes any sense to anyone. Truly an enjoyable razor that delivers excellent results.

A write up from another forum I'd been on this morning. Simple cut & paste job here from that thread.....

Such an easy shave this morning with the Diamondback Ti. Nearly effortless with every stroke and at every stage of my 3 pass shave. The balance in shave efficiency with comfort & smoothness is simply superb. Is it the best that I’ve ever experienced or encountered in my shave den and shave razor journey? Hard to say as I have a couple that are excellent as well in the Ti alloy. I’ll say this. If a compromise between good efficiency & really good comfort/smoothness is your sole goal, there are vey few that I can count on one hand that can deliver those qualities exceptionally well. There is no perfect razor for all and whomever makes such a claim is living in their own fantasy wet shave land of their own creation. There is no razor that is the one to dominate all. However, there is a good measuring tool when it comes to placing one razor over the other and that is by general consensus of opinion by a majority rule. Many aspects contribute to this arrangement with far too many factors to mention independently but, in general we as wet shavers look into the overall thoughts of a said razor and look for similarities between users of said specific razor and notice if they all come to an approximation of comparisons between users that determines if a said razor is bestowed as one of the best, if not best razor for the general shave consumer. Without getting into the limited production, price and availability of some of these high priced items, there still is a number though much smaller and concentrated within a niche segment, the general rules of an accepting majority still applies. Collectors or razor collecting is another segment that is vast and I have no need nor the desire to explore this topic but, I have to concede that some of these high priced and limited production razors are bought up by collector’s because of their exclusivity and potential to rise in price as time passes on. It’s seen as an investment and with some of these items, rightfully so. Let me get back on topic here with the Ti D-back. It’s a razor that meshes the lines of comfort & efficiency superbly without taking a back seat to any other razor. This might be the “Holy Grail razor” for some and not for others. However, as it stands and has been said throughout this forum thread and many other forums like this one, it is one of the best razors ever made to date and that statement gives it a clear stand via a pragmatic approach in the conversation/argument for best ever.

Great to have these conversations & debates on what is best or not. I certainly enjoy them and entertain them from time to time. Honestly though, I’d rather shave with arguably one of the best ever. I get more satisfaction out of it in the end. The Ti D-back is certainly amongst the best. At least in my experience.
