    1 Days growth

    Soap = Sterling Bergamot and lavender, somehow losts its scent
    Brush = Omega 10049
    Bowl = white plastic
    Razor = 1958 No 66
    Blade = Personna Platinum Chrome (3) Made in Germany
    Passes = 2 and pick ups
    Post = Usual CWR, Alum, rinse, pat dry, Thayers rose petal, Nivea Balm
    ASL = Imperial Leather
    Scent = The Body Shop Black Musk
    Score = 9.8 / 10
    Damage = minor weeper left lower chin, trying a new Gillette slide angle, felt the nick. Cleared after the cold water and Alum
    Good overall Alum feedback
    100% DFS and 90% BBS

    Surprised at how well the blade did on day 3. I have put it aside for another outing

    Used the same lathering technique from yesterday’s MWF setup. Pre-soaked, but a near dry brush. 100 swirls on the puck and much less water than I usually use, feeding this in slowly. Super glossy shiny slick lather resulted, which meant better glide and therefore temptation to use a bit more pressure. MWF has taught me something!

    MWF 0+0+1
    Sterling 1+1+1

    Back to the MWF next time around

    Hope you all have a terrific Thursday

    A great Throwback shave with the Gillette dupe Pivot razor being the star of the show, no doubt. There are some slight differences between the real and the dupe, but I can manage with them all right. The main one being I have to spend a little more time rinsing out the soap from the Blades, than with the real brand. Huge improvement at both ends of Porcupine. The Mike's Natural soap is a great one, all right. I won't mention @wristwatchb's name, but I agree with him that Mike's is a class soap. (Actually, I was the one who said "class soap", but I'm sure he'd agree). I should have added more of the Bill Neumann 1911 A.S. onto my face and neck. Will do next time. I'm sure I got enough to make it work its "skin-food" magic, though. No cuts, Knicks, Red-Ball Sunsets....good sign. 2 passes. Back with same tomorrow. Most Outstanding.

    Freedom February

    Razor - Fatip Piccolo
    Blade - sharp-star.jpg (1)
    Soap - Stirling Black Ice
    Brush - Jayaruh JR#312

    Well, it's Freedom February so I have the freedom to choose a favorite modern DE razor. The Fatip Piccolo. This smallish razor packs a huge punch. It weighs 73.1 ounces and the blade gap is a tiny 0.055 inches. However, the blade exposure and angle are both on the aggressive side. This makes it a very efficient razor. I consider it to be "aggressive", but not like the Muhle R41 or the Gillette Old Style. I paired it up with a Sharp Star blade for a sharp and smooth shave. Used up the last of my Stirling Black Ice sample puck. The first soap I've finished completely in....well maybe ever. I now have an empty container begging to be filled up. I'm trying to ignore that. The JR#312 faux horse brush killed the soap off and provided three passes of lather plus plenty of extra.

    Three passes today to get the full effect of this razor. It's a beauty and fun to shave with. Could be a daily driver if I wasn't so interested in every other razor made. Finished with a perfect finish and another day is done! Well, night. My day, your night. Something like that. Have a great Thursday!

    Razor: AJ Jordan Old Faithful Cocolobo scales
    Brush: Sawdust Creation Studio “Inferno” Silver Fox Synthetic
    Lather: Wholly Kaw King of Oud
    Aftershave: Wholly Kaw King of Oud
    Additional Care:
    Omega Alum
    Dickenson’s Original Witch Hazel
    Stirling Unscented Glacial Balm

    Wonderful straight shave this morning. The Edmund Fitzgerald is on the distant horizon for this soap. Three passes to super smoothness. I did manage a couple of weepers which were easily taken care of by the post shave routine.

    Hope you all had a great day.

    Last shave: Saturday January 11 - 26 days ago

    Today's setup:

    IMG_20250206_212500.jpg

    My last shave was almost a month ago. I now have a full beard and moustache set. I decided today that it was time for a trim - get rid of the neckbeard part and clean up the middle of the cheeks to leave a crisply defined jaw outline.

    I went with some of my favourites: a brush with a beautiful wood handle turned by Jason @jtspartan paired with an excellent badger knot, my pet modern injector which combines solid mass with a nearly foolproof plate of mid-grade aggressiveness, and a very very slick and protective Stirling mutton tallow (and lanolin) soap. They were a great combo!

    Due to the length and density of the whiskers I had to remove, I shaved in two stages: first the neck and then the more minor cleanup on the cheeks.

    The neck took about four passes to go from beard to DFS with re-lathering after each pass and reloading the brush from the puck at least once. The first pass was ATG to get rid of the bulk of the whiskers. The second pass was WTG to catch the remaining visible clumps of whiskers. The third was diagonally XTG and then the fourth and final pass was ATG again to get to near BBS.

    It was a very slow process, because for the first pass I couldn't just rinse the cut whiskers out of the razor; instead I had to unscrew the plate and remove the blade to unclog the razor - after every single stroke. I had to do the same thing twice during the second pass. For the last two passes, I was back to my normal practice of just rinsing the razor clean under the tap every few strokes.

    I then did the cheeks which were much easier because I was just trimming down the sparser uneven upper edges of my beard area. Three passes did that: XTG , the WTG, then XTG again. No need to disassemble the razor to unclog it.

    No nicks, blood spots or razorburn and the alum was totally silent. Honestly that surprised me on the neck after the two ATG passes there.

    The splash was a good finish. The Scots Pine has a pleasant fir forest scent that goes well with winter weather.

    Hope everyone is keeping well.

    Great Thurday shaves, gents!

    Barry, nice to see that you are using soap from The Real Shaving Company instead of one of the many many fake shaving companies out there...

    awesome John.:cool::bounce017: is the scot's pine sheep soap base any slicker/better than the regular stirling soaps?
