    Sunday 9 Feb 2025

    Well, I am supposed to be alternating between Stirling and MWF, but today is Sunday and more time to faff with the Fat, so the Fat it is>>>

    09 Feb 2025 1600 90.jpg

    No Bowl = straight to the Face today
    Razor = Gillette No 66
    Blade = Personna Platinum Chrome (1) Made in Germany
    Passes = 3
    Post = Usual CWR, Alum, rinse, pat dry, Thayer’s Rose Petal, dry time, Nivea Balm
    ASL = Imperial leather
    Scent = TBS Black Musk
    Score = 9+ / 10
    Damage = none

    MWF 0 + 0 + 1 +0.5 + 1
    Sterling 1 + 1 + 1

    The Fat was better today

    Lightly bloomed the puck
    Soaked the brush in RO water
    Shook brush dry. Squeezed dry even more. Rolled it dry in the towel
    To the MWF puck for enough (?, I lost count) swirls
    Removed the facial prep: reapplied water to the face, straight to face with the 10049
    Nice and slick, not as shiny as I would have liked so I gradually dipped the brush into the RO water and reapplied again and again. Interestingly this very small amount of extra water started to thin the lather quickly...

    Again: a really good feel during and after the shave

    The MWF gets a full score of 1 today because of its performance and the enjoyment factor of trying to dial it in. I do think so far it works better on the face than the bowl. Next time I want even more loaded on to the brush.

    Have a great Sunday one and all

    I will be shaving tomorrow because I want to do a straight razor shave with 3 days beard growth. It's been a long time since I have shaved with that amount of stubble. I have everything laid out for this session. I am planning on using my Wostenholm near wedge to tackle the scruff. Once again, I will be using TSD Barbershoppe SS and AS. Also, I will be bringing out my Omega Pro 49 boar brush to lather my beard.

    1 Days growth

    Soap = Stirling Bergamot and lavender
    Brush = Omega 10049
    Bowl = white plastic
    Razor = No 66
    Blade = Personna (2)
    Post = Usual CWR, Alum, rinse, pat dry, Thayers rose petal, Nivea Balm
    ASL = Imperial Leather
    Scent = English Leather
    Score = 9+ / 10
    Damage = none

    Another fine Stirling shave. The lather does get thinner in the 2nd pass and for pickups but still works very well despite that. Little scent left in this sample. Could be an old sample or that it just leaches out of the plastic containers

    Have a great start to the week one and all

    Thanks Joe, I am liking the Fat more and thinking thicker is better. So far it has not yet clogged up my No 66 which is good
    You've never tried the MWF?

    Sounds like an epic shave ahead. I occasionally set up the night before but mostly just wing it on the day
    However I have been sticking with the No 66 and focussing on the MWF for now.
    At least I get to change the ASL and scents!

    Unfortunately, I never tried the MWF. I had plenty of soap (still do) that it wasn't necessary for me to add another soap. Also, the turnoff for me was that it's difficult to lather with hard water and it's also unscented.
